Ok, I received the Very Best Of 'reissue' today from hmv. The one with the new slipcase which you can find on amazon and play as well if you want to see what I mean. But I got the normal 2001 issue. No new slipcase, no new cover. Question: does it actually exist? I've found one on ebay too. Sent the seller a question about it (he's used a stock photo) but he's away til late January. I'm pretty sure it existed at some point since amazon updated their photo with the slipcase having a new sticker.

Ps. I know I'm sad for wanting this poor release again but now it's a mission!

Send it back, or go to one of the HMV stores if they return online items. Tell them what you're looking for, but sometimes the stock numbers change when they change the packaging, sometimes they don't.

I saw the original cover up on Rhino's website, and the new cover on Warner Bros' website, but the release date is the same on both. But you're ordering from a warehouse and they're going to take what's in the box, and as far as covers go, you're better off going to the store and seeking it out.

I went in to the Oxford Street hmv last week They said they had 1 copy but it wasn't on the shelf and they couldn't find it I've searched around on the net and I can't find any pictures / reviews / feedback on it at all. Strange re-release eh. As far as I'm aware they don't accept online returns in store either. Hope it's freepost!

It looks like it's the same catalog number with different covers, so you're prob. going to have to do some legwork on this one, or just post that you're looking for it and see if anyone spotted it in a store in driving (or train) distance.

I was in a couple of record shops today and i never thought to check.

I'm just not in the least bit interested in it so that is why i never thought to look.

they both are collages of photos, these are just within the font. i like it better, but wouldn't say the other one was TERRIBLE. those pics were cool too

Personally, I don't think it's that bad. Though the use of the hologram D&P cover is unforgivable. Why didn't they just use the standard blue European one?

If the photo elements are spot-varnished, and the gold borders on the letters are embossed, that might be pretty slick.

I mean the use of the pictures. Lots of blank space or unnecessary space from the album covers turning up in the lettering. for example, SOTT, Graffiti Bridge and Purple Rain. each letter should have a different face pic, I think, instead of background elements.

Rang hmv. The woman was very helpful, she's passed on a message to their warehouse to confirm whether they actually have this new version. Will keep you posted.

The new cover looks much better indeed, the first one is so random and crap.

indeed,it was like someone made that cover on a monday morning

taking a few album covers (Parade,GB & Batman inside pictures) and 1 from DM

and that's it....
