It sounds to me like you have to have F1 tickets, so those who are thinking of going should check that out first.

Why do folks keep bangin' on about 'he's just doing it for the money?'.

So what? Do you work for free?

If he can get paid the most he can to do something he loves then who's place is it to call him out for it?

*This could be the fammiest thing i have ever written.

Because mister hypocrite himself said that "money and art don't mix". Now we know what's really on the mind of this "artist".

I could give a fuck if he chooses to perform where the big money is. Thats one of few options for musicians today anyway. I will just never believe the whole, "money dont matter" - "free the music" - "slave to the system" trip from him anymore, EVER.

Yeah, because his musicians and staff don't need any stinkin' money! I'm sure they'd all love to work for free and maybe Minnesota will lay off the property tax crap too.

I swear, it's get so stupid when this discussion starts and it happens every time the dude plays somewhere. People bitch that he isn't performing, then when he does, he's a greedy son-of-a-bitch. hammer

If people would realize he says shit that appeals to him in the moment...and frankly doesn't think too long term...they'd have an easier time of it. He kind of proves it over and over but people can't seem to get it clear.

Generally I don't care WHAT he has to say unless it is through his music and that's ben a little less than inspiring. Or to quote Frank Zappa- "shut up and play your guitar."

And play wherever you want and make as much money as you can. Mine is going elsewhere until you make some music I like again.

Is it inappropriate to ask how to expect the crowd in an - although very modern, rich and striving - muslim country to react to Prince and his preaching? Will he preach or cut it out out of respect?

Is this even relevant?

Okay, 3 things that popped into my head...

1) Not to stereotype, but the Muslim world is generally where al Queada is located. Is Prince in any danger? Terrorists can be crafty remember. And imagine how big of a prize Prince would be to kidnappers... Not that I would EVER wish something like that to happen. That aside, it is really cool to see Prince playing in a Muslim country.

2) Not to stereotype again, but the article questions if Prince might be asked to tone down his performance in respect to where he is playing. God, what bullshit. Why are people/countries such pussies that they have to censor anything. I mean, Christ. Here in America we have Marilyn Manson butt-fucking himself with a cross on stage while cutting himself with razorblades. (Ok, so that might be an exaggeration, but still...) It makes me glad to live in America. We bitch about censorship here, but it is nowhere near as bad as that part of the world.

3) Kanye West is playing, too. Let's hope he doesn't snatch the mic from Prince. P's bodyguards will give Kanye a nice beatdown. Kanye = no-talent hack.

I live in Thailand, and not to stereotype, but I'm glad Prince isn't performing here because I fear he could be kidnapped and sold into child sex slavery.

Most artists say that until they need to eat and pay bills. Seriously, wtf do you people want him to do besides come to your house and play for free?!?

That's something else he said he'd do too (back during the early name change months)....I knew he'd have to wear wellies if he came to my village....but I believed him sad

It's the new paradigm since nobody wants to pay for music these days, but just download it for free, so make their money playing live

OK - to all of you who might think the UAE is unsafe, let me tell you all, I've moved 17 times in my life and I've never felt as safe as I do here.

It's SUPER safe cause of the money spent on keeping the society ultra safe.

Yes, rules are very tough....but that also means less crime.

Yes I know, it's not perfect by no means....many negative points about this place but all countries have negative points! smile
But I definitely recommend visiting if you like: beach, sun, fun, shopping.

Not much "history" as such.... confused

Thanks to all of you!
You cannot imagine how excited I am.

I've seen him many times in concerts before, but never here!

The feedback has been amazing so far, never thought there were that many Prince lovers in the region, but apparently there's a lot of purple love going on.

@squirrelgrease - gotta hand it to you - you make me fall off my chair every time I read your comments! OH LAWD! lol

The amazing thing about him coming here is that concerts here are usually much better than in Europe/US cause the venues are much smaller and so you get really close up and cosy with the artist....so definitely looking forward to this one! WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!
