Help needed with a compilation: Songs Prince could've written

So i'm doing a playlist in iTunes of songs that if I didn't know better I could have sworn that Prince wrote them himself. But not tracks by any of the proteges - that would be too close to home.

Here's what i've come up with so far, hopefully it will inspire some ideas from other folks:

TLC - Waterfalls

Sophie B Hawkins - Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover

Rolling Stones - Miss You

And er, that's it. Anyone?

TT.

All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

Well, the obvious ones are Do Anything by Natural Selection and Oh Sheila by Ready for the World.

That said, I don't agree with the three songs you picked.

I agree with this one, also Dance 2 The Music

There's just something about those two songs that make me go "hmmmm"

It sounds like his phrasing, and lyrically the songs reference earlier material

Good collaboration with Bootsy whoever wrote and performed those songs

"So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

Really? None of them? Admittedly, the Hawkins track could just be about the title but i've always thought Waterfalls was very SOTT-era Prince. And P himself has been quoted saying that he wished he'd written Miss You.

Yeah but like He didn't write them. So in reality there is no "Songs Prince could've written"

maybe we should stick to threads like "songs prince shouldn't of written.

Just saying

Prince already did that one, except he called it The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.

Nicotine & Gravy, Get Real Paid, Hollywood Freaks, Peaches & Cream, and Milk & Honey all sound (to me) like they could've been written by Prince. I've always thought Midnight Vultures was a sort of 'homage to Prince' album anyway.

Pretty much all of Brown Sugar sounds like it could've been Prince (well actually, it sounds more like what it probably is - d'Angelo desperately trying to be Prince).

Yeah but like the original poster said "songs that if I didn't know better I could have sworn that Prince wrote them himself", or do you just read thread titles and dive in with a reply without bothering to read all those pesky details?

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Laurnea - Infatuation

Rachid - Zoe's World

Rockwell - Peeping Tom

Georgio - I Don't Want To Be Alone

Tony, Toni, Tone - Born To Know

The Jets - Rock It To You

Prince's influence was so great at one point, the list could go on and on.

Yeah, but like, maybe this is just a light-hearted, you know, just for fun thread!

And your suggestion is that we should stick to negative subjects rolleyes ie songs Prince shouldn't HAVE written. What kinda vibe is that?

Just saying shrug

Rachid!!! Don't see many references to him. I loved Prototype, such a shame he never released a follow-up.

Great album. Even Beck himself said that Peaches and Cream was a direct homage to Prince.

Yeah, I loved Prototype too. It was defintiely slept on. All I've seen of Rachid since is some live performances on youtube.

"Freak Me" by Silk has always reminded me of a Prince song, back when Prince was still writing songs with sexy lyrics. Check it out:

I absolutely love this song, because it reminds me of a slow Prince jam.

Actually, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote that song, so yeah, it comes close to being a Prince song.
