Dude, everytime I hear this song, I think of Sweet Baby! It's in that family of ballads that are light and airy but not cheesy in the process.

exactly, and its not easy to NOT be cheesy with a love song, because the sentiment can always come off cheesy. But this is simplistic and compilacted too, great production and instrumentation.

That's why I think this one works.. I am probably first in line when it comes to taming his production on songs.. this time i think he did a great job.

It´s your problem if you are bored with Prince´s music, not his.

I'm just loving the BREEZY sound of the 70s. Songs like that don't have to be genius, what's genius is that Prince can appreciate that sounds is nice and put it out there. He doesn't always have to show off.

I did say he may have recorded it while sleepy lol I think he just said "to hell with it". lol

This song reminds me of something that could have been on the Love Symbol record, which was probably the last time i really enjoyed his ballads. To me all his ballads lately have all been the same, i mean "on the Couch" "satisfied" even Call My Name though a good song, doesnt hold up anymore to me, stuff like he was doing like "sweet baby" and "God created Woman" still interest me now, almost 20 years later

I definately agree with this. Sweet Baby, Damn U, Dark, And God Created Woman... timeless melodies, lush productions.

Stuff like Walk In Sand and Sea of Everything just don't hold up against these gems.

Future Soul Song however, is up there and is probably his best 00's ballad to date.

Can't help but hear what this song could've been. A Brazilian or Pacific Island vibe with Sheila-arranged percussion woulda been really cool.

Nothing new here, but at least the lyrics aren't wacko like some of the others. Nice enough. You can actually shout out other songs he's nicked bits from as it plays which is fun!

Intro drums: Call my name

intro: Dreaming about U

Verse 1: I hate U

It's by no means a classic, but it ticks the boxes enough for me to like it

blah blah blah

Prince loves writing these f-ing ballads. Would it kill him to release an album with 9 uptempo tracks with no ballads ruining the flow? He ruined the flow on MPLSoUND as well, with U're Gonna C Me, Here, and Better with Time too close together. At least it's not as bad as Greatest Romance, U Make My Sun Shine, and that whole crap period. But still, you can't follow up 6 banging tracks with this feminine hygiene commercial music.

Once again...posting my reflections after deliberately not posting them until I received the actual CD and listened on my good stereo speakers... I like "Walk In Sand" but I am not blown away... "Act of God" had conviction and direction... "Sea of Everywhere" is much more personal as a ballad... But I wish that Prince would stick with social commentary songs and writing songs in shich he is a character writing about someone else's existence other than his own... The only reason I say that is, once you reach a point of self-satisfaction/happiness, your writing and musical skills can degrade, not because of age, but because of natural balancing in someone's life who is middle-aged. That is when you really have to use your skills as a writer/artist/musician to tell stories for characters other than your own/and/or your own youthful experience. Just because that original drive is gone...and you have to renew it...in a different way! "Act of God" is just one example of how to do it right! IMO cool

'Walk In Sand' is my fave on the album, like a cross between Jordan Knight's 'Can I Come Over Tonight' (btw, that first album by Knight is better than anything by Justin Timberlake) and Billy Joel's 'Leave A Tender Moment Alone'. Its such a sweet, lush and tender song - just delightful. Incidently, we all know how underrated a guitarist Prince is, but the same can be said of him as a balladder. In my opinion, no one has recorded so many such soulful songs in the last 30 years. Genius. I have to say, a week on and I'm absolutely loving this album, there's such a playful, happy, and fun feel to it. Man, this guy just does too much. Thank you Prince, were not worthy!

Prince can always make a wonderful melody and chorus on a slow jam and this one is no exception. I loved it upon first listen.
