At first listen on my computer speakers, I was like, what is up this "Everybody Loves Me" song? But then, I listened again with the headphones on. This song is the JAM. This song sounds like it could have came off of a less risque DirtyMind-like album. Seriously- listen again to the synths and the vocals. I think you will like it.

I heart Stefani Germanotta.

Although, I think it would have been even better if it had been "Everybody Sex Me" or "Everybody Lust Me".

I agree. I was listening to a snipet of three of his songs on a website that MSN's homepage linked me to and the first song sounding like an updated Let's Pretend We're Married.

I wonder are these truly new songs or are they just new to us? In other words, did Prince finally dig into his infamous vault for some of these songs?

Prince has continually been digging into his vault for songs. Graffiti Bridge is a great example of that. The only question to put on the table now is if he's doing it more (percentage-wise) than he used to and if the older tracks are better than the new ones he's also adding...

Future Soul Song has been established as a song that's several years old and yet seems to be the most liked track here.

Is it me or does that Lavaux song is reminiscent of AUTOMATIC the Pointer Sister's song? I love it either way.

Where were you last night at around 8:35 pm EST when we discussed this song? Of course it is, we knew already. lol

My bad. Haven't been on the org for about 2 weeks I think.

Wiping my ass after a really bad bad case of the runs from a curry I ate last night.

The man sounds bored and uninspiried if you ask me.

There's no way any true Prince fan would compare it to SOTT/1999 etc apart from the sound.

Glad I didn't have the fucking pay for it!

Hate to say it but it sounds average to me as well and I agree about the non comparison to 1999 or SOTT this isn't close. We're gonna get fireballed but oh well. I sorta agree with you.

There are some catchy tunes for sure. I give it a 6.5 (after 2 listens). But, I am not into P using the flanger/phaser effect so much in the guitar/bass/keyboard tone. It sounds cheesy to me.

Prince's best ince 'Lovesexy'.

Comparable to '1999' era outtakes. 'Extraloveable', 'Eternity' etc.

I'm thinking I like it better than LotusFlow3r but less than MPLSoUND. In fact, I think MPLS has the better uptempo songs while 20Ten, possibly, has a couple better ballads. I could see sticking Future Soul Song, Sea Of Everything, Laydown on MPLSoUND.

As far as other recent albums, I like 20Ten better than PE, less than 3121 and undecided on Musicology.

Of course all of the above are far and away better than The Rainbow Children. lol

The Rainbow Children is one of his best albums. It's epic. You must be white. White people get so sensitive about nothing. When he said the Devil he meant the Devil he wasn't talking about white people. But the music on that album is incredible some of

I haven't heard Lavaux yet - but it's funny that you compared it to the Pointer Sister's "Automatic", since when that came out I actually thought it was Prince singing!

True story, I bought the 1999 album and was confused/disappointed when THAT Automatic was not what I heard on the radio. I had no idea it was a woman singing.

When I first heard the Pointers' version, I actually thought it was a male one-hit wonder. Then it hit me that there was a deep-voiced female in the Pointers and lo and behold that's how I found it was a Pointer Sisters song. lol

While the sounds of the two albums are nothing alike, "20Ten" reminds me of "Come" for the fact it seems kind of reeled off and possibly (probably?) will be underappreciated at first but will be considered a minor classic in hindsight. I definitely didn't get "Come" upon release but it's an album I've grown to love over the years. I can see lots of fans having a similar experience with "20Ten."

Totally, I hated Come at first. Now it's in my top 5. I like 20ten straight off tho. Has its weak spots, but fun overall, and certainly doesn't feel lazy, there's too much going on for that!

Just heard it once on the way back from Werchter.

I compare it to Musicology. Like Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance.

Digital like Rave into the Joy fanatastic en NewPowerSoul.

Found it a very solo Studio Album, just prince on his own in the studio with his old drum machine he used in almost every song. Very laid back.

Again, just listened to it once, didn't like PlanetEarth immediately eather, but i think i'm gonna like PlanetEarth, 3121 better (more diversity, guitar and rock). Can't be compared to anything back in the 80's, except for the old sound of the 1999 drum machine.

this record reminds me of his old r n b funk thing from soft n wet and sexy dancer .. the first track reminds me of around the world in a day .. i really like some of his lyrics .. like the reference to the hollow earth theory and passing thru certain energy fields that can change your reality ... lots of cool stuff in a more subtle way than past .. more poetic

i like it .. much more than most his recent work .. altho dance for me and here would sound better than lavaux, walk in the sand and maybe another one toward the end .. coulda used a couple of super strong songs like that .. but all in all there is a bit of magic on this record

considering paying for the last 4 records and feeling disappointed .. its nice to get such a good record for free .. i like some of the drum sounds .. they less programmed than usual .. still the synths need work on the sound but the melodies are very nice .. i like the familiar diamonds and pearls sound that snaps into the sexy dancer sound toward the end of beginning endlessly

good record mostly

As many have already stated, this is the album MPLSound should've been like (and it's alittle better than that album also). Production-wise, this has the feel of 1981-1987 Prince mixed with the best of 3121, Planet Earth and LotusFlow3r. Now I will say that LotusFlow3r still shits all over this record and for those who have said that this is his best record since TGE or Sign 'O' The Times, shame on you. Overall, this is a solid and listenable album.

I agree with this. It's nothing compared to those brilliant gems, but it's a good album. Very listenable. It's about what I expected.

He's got to pull people in, and the songs can't afford to be too artsy-fartsy. He's trying to 'grow' his fanbase, and each time he does that (like D&P and Rave Un2), the songs aren't terribly challenging.

I like the uptempo songs alot though--except for that VERY STRANGE closing track. lawd

Do you really think. Waht always gets to me is that when Prince does this freebie thing-do you think he is aware of the audience thats out there. What I'm quite liking about this album is that it is a lot more quirky than I expected it to be-so I don't think he could grow a fanbase off it.

It's a mix of Controversy, Rave, 3121 and MPLS Sound. I've always professed that Prince has given us so much incredible music in the past, that I wouldn't bother getting upset over anything that I didn't really love the past 10-15 years. The stuff released during the 2000's was to me, uneven, with moments of greatness and a lot of filler, but 20ten seems to be a lot more focused and true to his sound. It's the first album in a long time that I'll recommend to non-Prince enthusiasts.

If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

Dirty Mind,PE,Controversy

Nothing like Purple Rain though..or SOTT.

After a few listens in my car and now at home I must say I like this one much better than PE and easier 2 get in2 than MNPLSound.

The most songs are really good, the best of this decade along with the best from 3121 and Musicology.

But: I know I've said it be4, I don't like that dry, analogue sound so much!

Since PE it seems he doesn't produce his songs anymore, except in the ballads, than we get that warm Prince sound we know.

I'm not saying it should sound like D&P or Timberlake's albums but a little more sparkle, bass would make this album even better than it allready is!!!

Everybody loves me sounds like an outtake from Dirty Mind...a bad one!

But than Song77 suddenly sounds great.

While I think that this is what MPLSound should have sounded like, 20ten is it's own CD. Yes, it incorporates elements from the 80's on there and I'm reminded of why I've loved Prince since the 80's but I don't look at this as the 2nd coming of 1999 either. It's a new album that I am loving because it stands on it's own feet and it's where Prince is today not where he was yesterday and for that, I dig it a whole lot.

[Edited 7/12/10 11:47am]
