On A Serious Note

I know some will not like or appreciate this thread and that's okay too, but I was thinking that it has almost been a year since we lost another music great sad I have been listening to my fav Prince songs this afternoon and I must say that loving these songs has greatly enriched my life wink I was thinking wouldn't it be nice for the org to tell Prince now while we can how much his music has meant to us eek I think it would be nice to have a thread just for that purpose without all the negativity and such. I'll start:

I became a Prince fan when I was 9 yrs old. I had never seen the man, but that voice instantly made me love the music. Over the years Prince's music has brought smiles to my face and good feelings/thoughts to my mind. I just wanna say THANK YOU PRINCE for sharing your music and some of your life with your fans heart

This is true. Like Prince said in 'Free': "Be glad for what you got."

i look up to prince because people mock and call him a weirdo and he still continues to stand strong and be his own person in the face of adversity

(excuse me for my language) but he is a man that truly doesn't giving a fuck about what others

say

so now when people call me a weirdo it doesn't bother me , i take it as a compliment biggrin

musically we all know prince is the man or we wouldn't be on this fansite

great post. Prince, I like the former posters, want to say, that you have also helped to shape my life with positivity. I love the music, the message, the spirituality, the bad ass-ness, the genius, the singer, the musician, the humanitarian. I have always loved your music....fan since 1982, hardcore fan since 1987, when the sign 'o' the times concert video blew my mind. I love you and all of your work, and I believe the world would be a different place for me if it was not for you. I get excited everytime I hear that I will hear or see something new from you. I still brag about you and your place in music history and future and share it with every oppurtunity. you will always be my favorite and my inspiration.

Dear Prince,

Your music has been the soundtrack of my life for 30 of my forty years. We've had our share of ups and downs, we had a few fights you never knew about, but all in all we had eachothers back. When I needed a couple hours of music to get me through the day, you supplied it. When you needed a few bucks, I always gave. I'd like to say we're even, but truthfully I will forever be in your debt.

My only wish of you would be; if we ever meet; please be at least cordial. Like it or not, I've gone to bat for you a few times more than many. On that note, thank God you are not for everyone.

Oh yea....,I also wish you'd make a Christmas album too!

Your Fam,

M.B

Funny that you say this cuz I think the fact that Prince has always done his own thing has made me love his work even more wink You don't see that kinda artist anymore-everybody is just re-doing what someone else already did.

It's probably unlikely that Prince will see this, but that's irrelevant. It's always nice to see a positive thread in here! Whether or not Prince sees it, we all see it. If we weren't fans of Prince (even if some people don't dig his current work) then we wouldn't be here.

The one thing all the crazy nutjobs here at the org have in common is that, at some point in our lives, this one artist's music has made us feel good. Made us happy. Maybe made us cry or made us smile when we wanted to cry. It's nice to have a thread to celebrate that.

Thanks nursev!

Great post! I've said it before P has been the soundtrack to my life. Ever since the first time I heard his voice (and lyrics) he's caught my attention. We seemed to grow together (judging by his lyrics). In both the best and worst times of my life there has been a Prince song playing in the backround that mirrored my thoughts, emotions, questions.

I can't thank Prince enough for putting out the music and songs he does. From the dirty, the witty, the silly, the painful, the soul searching, the pure joy (of love), to the questions about what God has planned or instilled in us, Prince's lyrics have always been something I look forward to hearing.

I love this idea of thanking P now for sharing his music with us. No other musician has been able to cross into so many genres, to explore as many different directions and be able to put that music out there- to have it be a quality/caliber that would even be reasonable to put out there.

I know P doesnt like to hear his fans raving him up, but it is not idolatry, it is just a pure appreciation for a beautiful voice, for lyrics that capitivated, enticed, or just plain made us smile- like no others'. I cant even think of another musician who has touched me nearly as much with their music as Prince has- so I thank him for sharing.

I have been into Prince's music from the 1st album and have just absolutely enjoyed the ride. From the days when Dirty Mind came out and I was played the record and my Mom walked in and heard the song "Head" playing and was enjoying it and then at that very moment I realized what the song was about and taking it off and saying that I was going to somewhere so I had to turn the record off. Lol. I have just loved his music even when I couldn't play it in front of my Mom. He has inspired some of my artwork and made it okay to be small and still be Big as well. I loved different types of music and he played all kinds of music which just fit me to a T. When I was in college and the 1999 album dropped and I would go to my pals rooms so I could listen to Something in the Water which is still my favorite song because I was going through the same thing in my real life as what he was singing about on that song just has never left me. I got nothing but love for him and his music and I think that he is the Greatest Entertainer of all time and don't care what anyone else has to say on the subject cause trust and believe I have many friends who don't have the same feeling about the subject that I do and they know no matter what they cannot sway this opinion from me. I can't wait to hear any new music from him and still enjoy all of that he has given my ears to hear and my body to dance to. Thank you, Prince!!!

Very touching thread!!!!

I lost my mom at 13 & my dad addicted to chemicals since 11 & i'm 37 now with a beautiful family & if it weren't for Prince who knows where i'd be. I got onboard during the Purple Rain era & haven't jumped off since(even during the bad times). Prince raised me through his music as I had no real father-figure & had to depend on Prince with life ,love, & women which he taught me well. I am not afraid to tell anyone that Prince raised me either.......Prince Thank U for you being you & Thank U for the music you are one of a kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been a fan of P's musical expression since I was 27 and have hardcore ever since. There was this girl I was feelin' at my old gig that was listenin' to Gold Experience and I thought hey if she likes it and I like her, maybe that'll get me in "good" with her. Needless to say "we" didn't work out but I saw P that year for the 1st time and it's been "on" since then.

I did later meet a hardcore fan like myself, we got married and had a son we almost named Prince ... LoL

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
