Black Album promo CD Hi guys, this is my first post!! I live in England and I've been collecting Prince stuff for about 15 years now and am quite pleased with what I've got (so far!!), but a friend of mine at work has shown me what appears to be an original Black Album promo CD from the late 80s. I'm no expert but I'd swear it's not a fake. It has the normal 8 tracks and then track 9 is In All My Dreams, and track 10 is Old Friends 4 Sale. The wording on the inner sleeve is in orange and reads:
'All Songs Published by (G.B.Only): Warner Bros. Music Ltd NOT FOR SALE! PROMOTION USE ONLY GEMA / BIEM 975 677 WX147 LC 0392 Printed in West Germany by / Imprime en Allegmagne par Neef, Wittingen. Made in West Germany' The booklet itself is black (obviously!!!) but when you hold it at certain angles you can see numerous black 'paisley park' symbols on there. The disc itself is black with orange text. I'm guessing this is kinda rare (and believe me I've tried to pry it from his grubby mits) but would welcome any thoughts any of you may have as to the authenticity of this or if anyone else has something of the like..... |

Hello and welcome to the org !!! I've got that one too, unfortunatly, it's a bootleg. A very nice one I must say, i've always loved the little black paisley symbols on it. "open your heart, open your mind
A train is leaving all day..." |
It can hardly be authentic if it has In All My Dreams and Old Friends 4 Sale on it.That would be one weird promo album, with two totally unrelated songs attached to it. laurarichardson doesn´t care about me "“You don't have any charisma, you should dye your hair black and you need to get breast implants like Brigitte Nielsen."(Prince,1993) |

You can check out authentic Black Album information here:

Many bootlegs said "Promo" on them, possibly in an attempt to make them look legitimate. But as stated above, the real deal would not have the extra tracks on it. There was a promo of the 1994 CD release, which would have a de-bossed "For Promotional Use Only - Not For Resale" in gold foil letters on the booklet. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. |
