Has Prince ever recorded or performed a holiday standard?

The question is fairly self-explanatory... has he ever covered a traditional Christmas song, perhaps in concert?

Is Christmas the only holiday you get since you refer to it as a holiday and imply Christmas?
Does `When The Saints` count?

Well we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in England and I didn't know people made songs to celebrate Easter?

He played a line or two from "Jingle Bells", just him and his guitar, at the infamous 1981 Houston gig (that's out on VHS and audio), at the end of the extended jam portion of "Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad". I THINK he might have said "Merry Christmas Houston!" or something like that. The concert was December 20, and the last show before Christmas break. The tour picked up on December 26.

Eh, not quite. Saints is more of just a good ol' gospel number, not a Christmas tune.

You're talking about the 1999 Tour. To my knowledge the Houston show that was recorded was the Controversy tour, which was on the date I listed above.

I take holidays when I feel like it and my `boss` allows it. I.e.: not limited to traditional timings.

As for holy days: there is more than just Christmas.

Yes, I have seen that done on video. I loved it! It was amazing how Prince could take a banal song such as that and make it exciting.

True, but not really the kwertshtun at hand.

And your dates are off by a week and a half as that concert was recorded on December 17 and 18, and aired on New Year's Eve.

The only two holiday tracks I can think of him doing were 'Another Lonely Christmas' & 'Snowman'. Both are pretty good tracks. Other than the aforementioned 'Auld Lang Syne' meld with 'Purple Rain' I've never heard him perform a traditonal Christmas standard.
