That song I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man was very real to me. Back in that time I was with someone who had basically been left by her man pregnant.I was really trippin but I decided to go with her even though she was going to be having someone elses baby in a few months. The shit was always on the back of my mind.I didnt really want to but I ended up dating her and moving in with her. I couldn't let it go.I couldnt leave her in the time of need. Some called it foolish.

Well the day she had the baby was the day before SOTT came out. When it
came out and I listened and came to ICNTTPOYM. I was trippin. Prince was singing about a lady on a lonely Friday night and sayin how her man had left
her.

I was floored. Im like damn. This song is saying what Ive been feeling and troubled with for months. So every time I hear that damn song it reminds me of that situation and how weak or whatever I was to not walk away from a situation that was not my problem yet I took care of at that time. Then the Forever In My Life song was there and Ive always sang those words to myself back then but when we would drive and it would come on we wouldnt sing them aloud but we knew we would have them as a wedding song whenever that mystical magical day happened.

Of course that never happend thank god and we both woke the fuck up but SOTT has a special place for me because that had some lyrics and some subjects that were all too real for me at that time. SOTT indeed. Sign of specific mufuckin youthful crazy relationship times.
