17 Days

I'm actually just listening to this early Prince jam and it is becoming one of my faves by him. All these years and I'm just listening to it. I've read that it was actually meant for V6, and you can hear Brenda singing backup. It's one of my fave B-sides, for sure.

Great song from the days when Prince's b-sides were comparable to his best output.

I never heard bazz guitar like that, prior to, or after that jam. Cud just be i need to get out more though. Bad tchune!!!

It was meant to be on Apollonia 6's album, along with "Manic Monday", "Take Me With U", and "Glamorous Life". We know where those songs ended up. You can hear Brenda's voice on "Manic Monday" was well.

I love (the one that's circulating on bootlegs) the piano version '17 Days' recorded in 1983, that is amazing.

There's a part in the script where (Vanity) gives him a wildflower outside of a barn, right after one of their arguments, and what follows is the "barn sex scene."

Now when you talk b-sides 17 Days is at the top of my tree. With it’s elastic bass, shaking tambourines and rain drop melody the song just lays out heartbreak in a way that makes it so attractive and places you in the despair lyrically while musically it offers a glimmer of hope. I know I’m not alone thinking this song would have been a hit as an A-side at the time. The fact it was the b-side to When Doves Cry probably means it got a good airing none the less.
