If another drummer is not credited, it's Prince on the kit. Usually. Purple Fact #542: Prince can make a Weeble™ fall down.

Eye have a question. Eye know that Prince play drums in some of his songs. Eye think eye reconized him sometimes on his sluggish time dispayed play. When this is a fault, it is a very cool fault. Like in the Song "Tambourine" from "Around the World in A Day". Did any have a list on wich Prince playing drums. His play sounds fantastic to me. I´m also drummer. By 'sluggish' time, do you mean a lazy feel? Because playing a little behind the beat isn't strictly a fault, t's more a question of nuance in the groove. The world's greatest drummers can push and pull the beat in an extremely subtle way. Case in point, Zigaboo Modeliste, the drummer from the Meters, is a master of playing lazy New Orleans funk grooves, which, while they sit back in the groove, are absolutely in the pocket. I'm sure you already know this, being a drummer, I just wanted to clarify what you meant. Or did you mean, you think Prince actually slows the tempo? I noticed in Musicology, he speeds up throughout the course of the song. I guess he doesn't practise drums very much, he's got a natural talent, but I reckon John Blackwell would be kicking his ass with all the hours he puts in on the instrument. He played everything (including drums) on most of his earlier albums. I think you will have to get into the late 80's before you can read a Prince album cover that does not read all songs performed, written, and composed by Prince. Ithaca's Number 1 Prince Fan

Like most instruments, Prince is not technically perfect but he has a 'feel' and an identity of his own on each thing he plays. I love his drum playing but it is far from incredible. now, his drum 'programming' from back in the day.. he was incredible.
