Can PRINCE finally get a grammy nomination in ROCK With Lotus Flower Prince shows hes amazing Rock side that has always been there but not noticed, and with this album getting some got press on its release, and the lack of Rock out there, can PRINCE finally get a nomination in ROCK. Not RB im tired of him getting the token nomination fo things like "i hate u or Future Baby mama" i mean he won for FBM and that was a horrific song. SO please grammies do not nominate him for anything RB this year, no nominations for "Chocolate Box, or Ure Gonna C me" just to give him one, give him one where its deserved, give him a nomination in ROCK for something like Boom. a-ha "foot of the mountain TOUR 2009" a-ha "Ending on a High Note Final TOUR 2010" going everywhere!

I'm sorry...let me compose myself. I don't think you'll have to worry about Prince getting any "token nominations" in the RnB category this year and I can pretty much guarantee you that he won't be getting in the Rock category either. Of course, I'm a Liberal! I'm an American, damn it!

Chocolate box doesn't sound at all like R&B to me.

People also forget P was nominated in the R&B Alternative category for 3121 (the song). NEWS was nominated in the instrumental pop performance, so being nominated in a rock category is not a stretch. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The Man will always keep Prince in the R&B category. And Jethro Tull will always be Heavy Metal. Purple Fact #542: Prince can make a Weeble™ fall down.

Yeah and LENNY K gets "token" nominations in Rock everytime he puts out a song. Its not a put down to prince's RB work, im speaking more of thats all people thing he is, and he clearly isnt. FBM to me was Prince doing nothing more than what he always does, i mean like the fact that he has been doing the same ballad on the last few albums, i mean "on the couch" "satisfied" "Somewhere here on Earth" etc....its all becoming the same song different title, he seems to not be taken seriously unless hes doing the ballad falsetto over and over, god forbid he picks up plays, everyone goes "whats he doing" a-ha "foot of the mountain TOUR 2009" a-ha "Ending on a High Note Final TOUR 2010" going everywhere!

However, Prince strategically does this so that he can sell a few records. If he had to rely strictly on rock supporters buying his album, I don't think he would sell as well. In the past, Prince has done rock records and a lot of rock stations (I would even say most rock stations) won't touch his music. I have requested songs from Chaos and was told they didn't have the album. I have pondered if it is a race thing or if rock program directors feel his music is not "rock". You would have 2 b a fool not 2 know songs like "Dreamer", "I Like It there", etc. are not rock. And damn good rock (to me at least). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Well actually not only has P received a Grammy Nomination in Rock, he won with the Revolution back in 1984 during the PR hysteria. Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals: Purple Rain - Music From The Motion Picture: 1984 - 27th Annual GRAMMY Awards. http://grammy.com/GRAMMY_...sults.aspx But I figure U're making ur point of P's output during this past decade.

he deserve better recognition than a meaningless grammy

he may never get nominated again because he's not with a major label anymore.

In R&B Prince stands out, becuase today's R&B is weak on the intelligence scale. There is zero musicianship, artistry or even talent involved at this point. It's just a "shake that ass girl" mentality using an autotuned vocal from a wanna-be rapper posing as a singer. Prince got a token nomination and win for a bad song that no one cared about, least of all Prince's hardcore fanbase. But he's lucky to get it. People aren't listening to his new music. Nobody gives a rip about anything he's done past 1987, except a small MINORITY of his fanbase. In any other category he wouldn't get a whiff of a nomination let alone a win. And it didn't hurt him that JIMMY JAM freaking runs the Grammys. I'm pretty convinced that Jam put the fix in for P, so The Time can finally do their thing. But Prince being Prince still screwed them on the naming rights. I think The Time's future is directly tied to LameAssFlower getting an ass load of nominations and a couple of wins at the 2010 show

Prince would have to release a legit ROCK album from beginning to end. He would have to scrap the falsetto voice, and scrap the horns. Totally smoke the guitar! He would have to promote it as rock, because if not, then its gonna automatically be shelved in the R&B sections.

no it's not. He is sure to have them mentioned when possible and releases songs just to get nominations - the release of Better With Time is pretty clearly aimed at another grammy vocal nomination. You don't get the number of nominations he's received in the past few years on relatively low selling singles/albums if you don't care. Music has many puzzle pieces in it but i think like puzzles we go for the pieces that we fit together the quickest so i do not feel the nominations will fit the game. The grammys play will be great when he gets a life time acheivment award
