"When 2 R In Love" Should Have Been A Single

Im talking about in 88'.

The song is so pure.

If "Scandalous" made top 5 on RnB Charts,this song would've made top 5 also.

Well it sort of was in 1994 when the Black Album was released..

It had a video and the song was released to radio

Just not purchasable as a physical CD ..


but yeah back in 1988 would have been nice - instead of 'Glam Slam'

It did get quite a bit of airplay on radio. Especially during the quiet storm shows in major markets.

I still hear it from time-to-time here in Dallas.

This song was way 2 good to be thrown to the masses, the limited release strategy worked best here.

Beavis and Butthead immortalized this song and video in an episode.

As a Prince fan I think it would've been a wonderful single. Trying to think as a non-Prince-fan, I don't it would've been a good choice. It's too sophisticated and "different" to appeal to the masses.

There certainly was talk of it being released as a single back in 1988.
(as a release from Lovesexy, not the black album). They had originally
intended to release quite a few singles from Lovesexy. When 2 R In Love,
Lovesexy & Eye No were being considered for singles, but in the end
this (obviously) never happened.

Lovesexy is such a strong album,

Sadly the album didn't sell well in america, to the frustrations of fans, WB and I guess to Prince himself:

Imo: it would have been amazing if these 5 songs had been released as singles:

Alphabet St.
Glam Slam
Anna Stesia
I Wish U Heaven
When 2 R In Love

But I guess the poor sales of the album made it to be 3 singles only...?
