The Good Old Days!!

This maybe in the wrong forum, so feel free 2 move it!!

Anyway, do u guys remember the good old days when us Prince fans(or in my case, an ex-obssessed one - I am just a casual one now!!) used to send each other loads of stuff, back and forth, either online or through snail mail??? I used 2 b constantly sending or receiving Prince bootlegs to and from all my online freinds that it almost became a full time unpaid job!!!!! U know, as soon as u downloaded something(mainly from The Royal Hub), you were sending it off 2 other online Prince freinds!!!

Now, it just doesnt happen anymore!!!! I maybe send someone something maybe once a month if I am lucky, if that!!!!

I really miss those days!!! sad sad sad

I still occasionally grab boots that I don't have, from the internet. I always will until Prince frees the music.

I used to get mine at record shows in Buffalo NY and here in Erie. There was also a record store in the mall that sold what they called "imports" lol The price tags always had "as is" written on them.

Well at least you're not working for free anymore biggrin

I think I had what must have been a bootleg years and years ago. It was a cassette. I don't know who I got it from or where it went to but I do remember the music was fabulous! How on earth does it get a name like "bootleg?"

I was expecting the black album to sound like my old cassette but it didn't.The music industry is so over produced nowdays I don't blame people for wanting these things. Natural sounding music definitely has appeal. I think my cassette was just a jam in an afterparty niteclub. Have no knowledge of these things really. Makes me feel old sad

If everyone is so keen on these bootlegs though why doesn't Prince just throw a whole lot together and sell an "authorised bootleg album?"

I'm puzzled why things are so uptight here around these subjects. Is it because a big bad mod might come and blow the thread down? And for what freaking reason? Enough with the arse kissing

I never did dig for the hub or get into it. I stuck to the other outlets and found almost everything I'd want.

The good ole days..walking down to Beat Street records in downtown Brooklyn and finding vinyl bootlegs. There was always a DJ there and they would play the wax for you before you bought them.Plastic Fantastic outside of Philly had a few of them also.I guess that's the ancient days..lol

What was great about the hub was that you'd find things that you didn't KNOW you wanted. I know all the other outlets, but some stuff on there I have yet to see anywhere else. It really was a haven for the hardest of the hardcore collectors.

The Good old days sucked ass.

Either we got 10th generation tapes that sounded like Morris Day took a shit on them before Prince ran over them with the prince cycle, or we'd go to the wrecka stow and check out the "imports" that were priced way the hell out of anything a teenage ElCapitan could reasonably afford. Yeah I really miss saving up to get a decent copy of Small Club years after it was recorded. That was awesome.confused

Yes there was a sick sense of accomplishment when you finally got your hands on something good, but I'd take the convenience of the internet over that bullshit we had to deal with anyday.

And "The Hub" was too gotdamn recent to be "the good old days." Downloading the extended version of Billy Jack Bitch from ftp://morra.et.tudelft.nl/pub/prince in only eight to ten hours, now that was the motherfucking good old days.

He did!! It was called Crystal Ball!! It had 3 CDs of unreleased material, plus The Truth CD and if u purchased it from the old 1-800-New-Funk Merchandize site they threw in the Karma Sutra Wedding Album(The music that Prince composed for his wedding 2 Mayte) as well!!nod nod
