Did Prince copy Kurtis Blow's dance move?

right about 2:14 in this Kurtis Blow clip on Soul Train he does this dance

I saw Prince do the same dance once in concert.

Anyone know the name of it?

Sorry I do not know much about old skool dance moves.

also, never knew Kurtis was a disco artist wink

I'm more interested in the girl at 2:23, she was SUPER happy to be on camera.

At 2:22 there is a dude that reminds me of Karl Lake doing the robot on the Chappelle. I wonder if Dave got that idea from Soul Train?

Always cracks me up to watch Dave, then out of the blue Karl Lake comes in doing the robot.

That's a common dance move that just about anyone would do when grooving.

I love that song. biggrin

I doubt that P copied Kurtis Blow but this looks like a dance we did in the mid 70s called the Watergate.

I don't know what they called it in Cali.

"After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill...the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Kurtis wasnt a disco artist, but since recorded rap first appeared in 1979 , all the rappers were rapping over popular disco music ie Rappers Delight (from Chics Good Times) , Freedom (from Get Up And Dance by Freedom) etc etc etc.

I know I got to be cooler than that cat you're sittin' with....
