My all time fav video. Loved the funky look with the Captains hat and bandana.

This whole look is what got me into Prince. The camera angles made the man look 6ft tall....lol. The moves were funky as hell.

I find it quite sad that an artist like Prince is destroying his legacy by fighting against YouTube users putting up his videos for the world to see.

Oldschool gems like this will one day be forgotten by younger generations. While you can still watch most clips by most other artists,even some really obscure shit, you really have to look VERY hard to find websites with old Prince videos.
Younger music afficionados know about Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield or Rick James, but less and less people under 25 know more than two or three Prince songs.
One of the greatest pop musicians will only be remembered as " that dude who changed his name into a symbol and did Purple Rain and later covered that Tom Jones song Kiss"....

The internet is the best way to preserve ones legacy, see Michael Jackson and his fans, but he would rather sue every little website just to save the goodies for his own website, a website that doesn´t even offer anything.


But I digress.....yes, his outfit in the Automatic video is pretty cool. In some ways it reminds me a bit of his outfit in the Sign Of The Times movie , the scene where he plays drums.

One of his best looks, best songs, and best videos. The hat, the jacket, his facial expressions and his body movement was just too damn sexy. You can tell Prince himself was loving the song.

THIS is how Prince was back then. I've always stated on here that P was a LOT different when the PR tour came around. U can see some of this in the PR film, especially when he was supposed to have been pissed. But overall, THIS ^^^ was the last great era of THIS type of Prince. He chucked it to the curb for mass success and to become more "mainstream". That's why I'm always saying that I'm so glad to have actually been around when THIS Prince was on and cracking. That's just how it was. It was no "Remember when P did this and when he used to sing that?" Fuck all that cuz it was all happening right then and there. THIS was the only Prince that I and everybody else knew. I love all of the videos from the 1999 album. With Little Red Corvette being my lest favorite for some odd reason. I really love the Let's Pretend We're Married video. That got even less video play than the Automatic video did. But yeah, I remember this ^^^ video. MTV would play it at 3 in the morning and that was it. Night Tracks was the ones who played it the most. I would watch Night Tracks because they played cooler videos than MTV did. I love the leg/thigh shot of Jill....P knew what time it was. He KNEW what all the bruthas wanted to see. He had the camera angle coming up from the floor to catch J.J.'s thigh sitting out from her trench coat! That shit right there was/is bangin'. Lisa's ass looked good too. But Lisa always looked good back then. Her eyes were so pretty and she was cool as fuck. She have the cig draggin from the side of her mouth. It looked like Lisa and Jill were going to kiss there for a second when they were behind Lisa's keyboard stand. Like I said, P KNEW exactly what the bruthas wanted to see. That's one reason I thought P was right as rain back then because he had the finest and coolest looking women around him. Lisa, J.J. and Vanity sickening FINE ass. As far as P's clothes in this, hell yeah. I still have my hat like this that I bought in 83. Got it soley because of THIS. Dig the waist coat too. Wore a coat very similar to this to the Purple Rain Premier. Yeah, P was off the hook.
