Arms of orion

I always disliked this song,maybe i thought it was boring. But 2day i listened 2 it and i loved it. But i never see it gettin much love on here.

One of my all time favorite Prince songs and extremely underrated. People seem to hate it for some reason. Maybe it's the unabashed sentiment invoved, but I can't look up at the night sky and see the constellation Orion without singing this.

Gorgeous melody and Sheena and P's voices swirling around each other is heaven.

Our dog who died in June was named Orion..... I love this song.
Always have....
now when I hear it and the words "God only knows where you are
tonight"..... have a WHOLE new meaning for me.....

Its a very pretty song!!!!!

I think the reason that some folks, myself included, don't like it is because of the overly schmaltzy and syrupy music. It sounds like a typical adult contemporary 80s ballad. Perhaps if he rerecorded the song with different music it might sound a bit better. I'd like to hear a simple piano and vocal version.

This song is a fav of mine. I think Sheena's and Prince's voices are nicely matched. I wish they had kept on recording, but that's what happens when lust gets in the way.

It's a very pretty song but it's hard to fit it on a Prince Slow Jam Mixtape with his other slow jams. I think that's why it gets overlooked a lot. It's slow and pretty not slow and sexy!

great song. shows his diversity even in ballads. every one doesn't have to be a "baby making" song like do me baby. others in this category would be Sweet Baby, Te Amo Corazon, etc.

i agree but I don't have a problem with the lyrics I think the words of the song are beautiful but the actual music is a no no it's too slow and sappy for me and it makes it really unbearable to listen to confused

I like it simply because of that. However what it does highlight is that even when Prince takes a stab at something this mainstream people still reject it -he may as well carry on doing what he likes

Umm...that was...interesting? Actually I wouldn't mind seeing more of that. As I said earlier I think a simple piano and voice take on "The Arms Of Orion" might sound better than the album version.

Slow Love? Diamonds And Pearls? Saviour? To name but three songs in the same genre.

The Arms Of Orion is one of his better melodies.
