Got the Rainbow Children!!

I was at a Best Buy and found a copy of the Rainbow Children for $5.99. Looks like it was the original packaging too, as it's in a paper thinpack as opposed to a jewelcase.

Heard mixed things about it, so I said what the heck, for $5.99 what's there to lose!

why, why? That cd should have been called Jumped The Shark

I figured what the heck. I thought the same thing when I found "Come" brand new at Fry's about 4 months ago for $4. It was way back in the CD bin collecting dust.

I bought mine too at that price, and when I opened it up. The dang cd hub fell apart!

You know, when I first heard this cd years ago I just couldn't get into it, except for maybe one song. I just thought it was weird as a whole. I finally took it out my cd case in the car and put it back in the cover inside the house to never be taken out again. But a couple of days ago I decided to listen to it again to give it another try and, I actually liked it. It's very intricate and jazzy, but the only thing I didn't like was the voice that narrated the cd throughout. It kind of creeps me out a little. But I enjoy listening to it and I like to work out to it. So, if you don't like it at first it may have to grow on you. Good luck...

Rainbow Children is my least listened to commercial release by Prince but it's a must have simply because it's Prince. I'm not at the journey in my life that he was when he created it but I enjoy the songs:

Muse 2 The Pharaoh
Everywhere
She Loves Me 4 Me

It has some nice songs-Last December, 1+1+1=3, Everlasting Now, but I could do without the voice

His 4th turning point classic.

This is one of my favorites.

I think its a great album, I just wish I could delete that creepy voice.

I've noticed that Best Buy is trying to deplete all of their Rainbow Children stock. Best Buy owned the imprint label for this release. If you don't have it, this will probably be it's last hurrah as a physical product.

i think i bought my rainbow children at tower records in davis california...before they went out of business lol....for $12 and that was 2 years ago so yea...I love the album minus a few things the voice, and the soft cover mine is getting torn up from sitting with all my prince stuff... yea good find yo

You know what's funny about his album to me. I had never heard about this release, so while I was browsing through typical Prince cd's there's this one, The Rainbow Children. I was like holy shit, how have I not seen this? For me the cd was a very cool listening experience. I agree w/ many as far as the heavy religious views but as far as the music goes, it's pretty amazing in my opinion. I mean it's Prince being way out there & I can dig it except for the really weird religious shit. I know that's messed up to say but I mean come on. Just play some good music man... & he does! I think the album delivers a burst of colorful music.

So, I'm glad you found The Rainbow Children, it's a cool album.

great album! i was sooooo pleasantly surprised. i ain't mad at P because of where he is spiritually, its a testament to his talent he's able to create such a cohesive multi-layered musical commentary for it that is still pretty accessible. i love concept albums and TRC works in that regard and as a statement of great musicianship

Enjoy - I think it's a fantastic album.

I remember thinking, YAY, PRINCE is back!(his first release as Prince again)
Then saw the "contraversial" sticker on it and was like YES!!! PRINCE is REALLY back!.....Then I listened to it.....once

The voice is annoying, but, hey, it's ART people, and if Prince wants it there, it's gonna be there.

That aside, the musicianship is the best I've ever heard on a Prince album ever.
These songs are tight, musically.

The Rainbow Children is probably the most polarizing album amongst Prince fans.

It's either brilliant, or it's crap.

There's no middle ground with this album.

Nobody thinks this album is just O.K.

That said, I'm in the group that thinks this album is brilliant.

Good buy! Very, very, very underestimated cd. It should've done better. A lot of people missed out on a good quality album. That's their faults though. Go on and enjoy your cd.

..i remember when i found my RAINBOW CHILDREN CD...i had 2 drive like 45mins in my city 2 get it....now that was a mission...and i didn't fail!!!
