Great song. Very funky. Should have been a single (and as I recall, it was planned as a single at the time. I believe there was a blurb in Billboard magazine that indicated the follow-up singles to Gold were going to be 319 and Shy, but obviously that never materialized.) * * * *

It's funny say that, I remember in 1994/5 there was some thing about it being from the Batman sessions, I remember reading Cat had said she had heard it in 1989 or something. Bunk obviously, I guess it's the synth horns, they sound like Partyman and that era.

Bunk obviously, I guess it's the synth horns, they sound like Partyman and that era. I've always thought that it sounded like it came from the 1989 sessions, especially with the efx on the guitar. Could've easily fit into the Batman soundtrack. Personally I do think it was written in 1988/89 even though many say it was written later in the 90's. __________________________________________________

Bunk obviously, I guess it's the synth horns, they sound like Partyman and that era. I've always though the same thing; always felt it sounded like the odd one out. It's more than the synths. It's that big wet snare and dated (even then) high hat sample. The other give-away that places it squarely in the Batman era, is that whispered moment "Have U ever kissed another woman on the dance floor?". Straight away that took me to the Joker's "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" Some may think it's a long bow, but all the pieces fit for me. Everything about that track screams 1989. Even P's vocal. I'm convinced it was pulled from the vault.

319 with its Peach influenced groove, steps it up a notch and adds a little more funk to the rock. It’s like revisiting Dirty Mind in parts, and the whole private centrefold session paints a pretty picture in ones mind – dirty or otherwise. A cheeky little track that always raises… a smile. Hot, it is hot enough to put a glitch in the experience computer.

You could also argue that the funky guitar licks share traits with those on The Future (and The Line for that matter) but then that is a trademark Prince sound anyway... [Edited 8/27/09 3:31am] Just somewhere in the middle,

Everytime March 19th or 3/19 rolls around, I think of this song. That's a full week before my birthday too. Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.
