Prince Barely Makes Time's Top 10 Elec Guitar Players

I didn't see this posted yet, but Prince was listed 10th on Time Magazine's list of top 10 electric guitar players. Obviously he should be higher when you consider Slash is number 2 on the list.

That's a damn good place for him. Usually he barely makes top 25 if that on these lists.

Slash at number 2 is high but he should be above Prince considering Prince doesn't have near as many well recognized riffs in his catalog.

There's a lot that could have been ahead of him including Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy and others so its cool he made this.

Also glad they didn't put Kurt Cobain on here since have seen lists with him clear up in the top 10.

This is not an ordered list. Right? Just a collection of 10 guitarists in no specific order. Just because his picture was later in the collection doesn't mean that is where he is in the top 10. I'm just happy he is on there. biggrin

I am happy he is on the list at all. I doubt he would have been a decade ago.

Boy, that's some tall cotton they put him with. But the fact that the reviewer knows about "Just My Imagination" gives maximum credibility to this list, and Prince's inclusion on it.

Awesome.

I agree. Why do some people have to find a negative in something that is postive.

Prince believes he is a musical prophet that has been chosen by Jehova to guide his fans to the "truth".

I've been wondering the same thing for many years now.

Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

Time magazine and Rolling Stone do this Top Ten crap every time the wind blows. It means next to nothing. It's one man's opinion.

How the hell can you have a Top Ten Guitarist list and not include Santana?

Grade a Angus Bullshit!!!

I would say Slash is one of the best guitarists on the planet. Eddie Van Halen, Robert Johnson, SRV not on the list?? Nice to see Prince actually on one of these lists.

As for unknowns. I would say Buckethead and Joe Bonamassa are amazing and will gain more credit in a few years. Go youtube: Joe Bonamassa sometime..yup. Amazing chops.

Silly list, Slash in not "greater" than Andy Summers (The Police), Johnny Marr (The Smiths) or Joey Santiago (Pixies) and Prince is a better guitarist than him smile - edit where are the Jazz guitarists?

Im glad Prince made the list, but the list is total B.S.
Stevie ray, Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen.. Where are they??? And how does chuck berry keep making these lists? Come on.. he was ok, but a top ten guitarist? NO WAY! Keith Richards ranked higher than Eric Clapton? WTF????

The guy who made that list is a P-fan. Can't you read that? None of the other artists get a song mention, but with P he cites three (!) songs. Obscure ones. He's funny and accurate with most, but gets weird with P's write down.
