I think maybe he's referring to... a stereotype, or maybe the state of music today - fewer true musicians get played. Not sure... but I love this song.

He's saying that he's a black man playing guitar...and we ALL know that ain't right...

I love his use of words...always have, but especially in this song.

"ganda u prop" = propaganda = rumors = not his thang.

"curtain puller" = wizard of oz reference = he exposed the industry, much like the wizard was exposed as a fraud behind the curtain.

"niggas ain't the same" = he's not one to settle for what the industry is going to give, he's a thinker = ie "read" a slam at rappers.

They bot have two black parents. and prince is a couple of shades on the lighter side.....

Mulato is a term used for bi-racial or multi-racial folks....
It IS a derogatory term...just like Nigger, spic, honkey, ect ect...

Mulato derives from the word "MULE" which is a half horse half donkey....
half beautiful stong animal half jack-ass so to speak...this term is just wrong.

One of the things I like about this song, is that to me, it is a little more honest and introspective about himself.
To me its interesting to hear Prince talk about himself, kind of licking his wounds, especially this coming from his ass-hole 90's era with lyrics about "having bank" & other ass-hole-ish bullshit.
I thought that with "The Truth", Prince had finally gotten over himself and was ready for adult themes, but no.
The same "I got bank" nonsense just got transferred to "The Rainbow Children", instead of I got bank its just now "I got Jehovah" in the same ass-hole manner.
