THE CHOCOLATE INVASION Vs. THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE

After listerning to the two albums on a very long road trip, I was thinking that there both very funky albums and should get more credit, BUT! I was leaning towards 'The Slaughterhouse' as my fave album. I dont know why but I found myslef singing and bobbin my head to the songs on that album more then 'The Chocolate Invasion'.

Dose anyone else know what I mean? I dont know why that is.

I like them both quite a bit, and consider them interchangeable. I don't know the recording session history, but there's not a perceived creative chasm between the two like there seems to be with Lotusflow3r and MPLSoUND.

I like The chocolate invasion much better. There are some cringe-worthy tracks on The Slaughterhouse (especially Props n Pounds), but I do love Hypnoparadise.

I like the funk in The Slaughterhouse. My favourites are Silicon, S&M Groove, Y Should Eye Do That When Eye Can Do This? and The Daisy Chain.

I tend to lean more towards Welcome to the Slaughterhouse.

So I guess Slaughterhouse wins by one tune! But theyre both awesome! Radical Man is the greatest! "Oh my god it's the green mile!!" Then you sing along to the synth "owwweegghghowwwwwzzzzz!!"

For me, The Chocolate Invasion is a more cohesive album. Probably because
it's basically a tweaked and retitled version of the aborted 'High' album, and
therefore most of it's songs were recorded around the same time and
were intended to appear on the same project.

The Slaughterhouse is more of a compilation of unrelated tracks recorded
over a longer period of time, with no original intention to put them together.
The first half mostly consists of older /Prince tracks. However, the
second half are mostly NPG tracks intended for the aborted "Peace" album.

For the reasons outlined above, I tend to view "The Chocolate Invasion" as
a "Prince" album, and "The Slaughterhouse" as an "NPG" album (though
of course technically, they're both 'Compilations' and are not credited to
any particular 'artist').

I'm still undecided. The Chocolate Invasion was the stronger album upon first listen, without a doubt. But I find myself returning to The Slaughterhouse more these last few days. They both feel like compilations more than complete song cycles from any particular era, but that doesn't necessarily bother me. Good songs everywhere.

I'll go with 'The Chocolate Invasion' just because I like more of the tracks there better.


Really it all just seems like a very good time, not separate albums.

I loved getting new tracks every month.
