Now P these people are talking your language!! No need to Bible read, pray or otherwise. Just visualize and you will have EVERYTHING you want, and best of all NO guilt. Would Oprah steer you wrong? Of course not !!!!

Dollwoman, why does all of this matter to you about how Prince practices his religion? Let bring the attention on you. Do you believe in God? Are you praying for Prince? I ask this to say that if you do believe in God, then do what you gotta do for Him. God will take care of Prince. That's none of our business. We don't know the FULL reason why he became a JW or why he's still one. All we know is that he is. If anyone in here has a problem with it, then it's a personal problem NOT Prince's.

A lot of people think that him leaving JW would mean he would get back to singing Sexy M.F. or Darling Nikki, and I add myself to that but a thought came to me recently. What if he left it and he STILL didn't do the risque songs? Will any of you blame JW then? If he's a hypocrite now, then why doesn't he just perform the songs anyway? In the end, it's Prince's issue to deal with where his religion is concerned, not ours. Respect that and move on, whichever way you decide to go with that fact.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

If Prince renounced his affiliation as a JW, will it significantly change his level or quality of music? This is the only issue of importance to me. Since I like and still play Lotusflower/MPLS as well as Musicology, I don't think that being a JW has lessened or lowered his talents. Of course, others feel that his productivity or quality of output has lessened. But even if it has, I can't see how his religious beliefs affect his talent. When the Staple Singers wrote "I'll Take You There," they did not sacrifice funky grooves for the sake of their message. So whether Prince is or is not a JW seems to be only a question of those who want or need Prince to affirm their own lifestyles. I find it really interesting when people say "I wish Prince would get back to cursing or being nasty." If you need profanity and graphic sexual subject matter, go find someone doing that rather than wasting time lamenting that Prince no longer does that. If The Rainbow Children offends people or people feel as if Prince has somehow betrayed them by changing his attitude or public stance on various topics and activities, just don't listen to that music. But worrying about why he is or isn't something doesn't make much sense. People choose and stay committed to religions for all sorts of reasons. I knew a lady who hated almost everyone and everything about her church. She attended church just to inform the members and the minister just how much she disagreed with them. One day I asked her why she remained a member. She said, "They’re not going to run me from my church!!!" I couldn't help wondering if it really was her church if she hated everything about it. However, my youthful experience with that elderly lady gives me some perspective on people who come to a fansite just to announce how much they hate subject of the fansite.

I guess most people do not see things the same way that I do. I don't think he'd go back to writing songs with language like sexy MF since he was clearly moving away from that on Emancipation which was released long before he became a JW.
The sand underneath my shell was caused I believe by how hedonistic I found the lyrics of lotusflow3r and how after the 3 cd set came out some people were blaiming the quality of the songs on the JW conversion. I could not see how anyone could truely believe that the JW's had any iput in those cd's whatsoever since most of the lyrics fly against JW beliefs in a big way. Why the self-praising lyrics I have no idea, but it wasn't something he picked up in any Kingdom Hall. Ditto the Chakra trasfer thing.

I just recieved the latest copy of The Watchtower magazine. It's the August 1st,2009 issue and it's green with 6 men on the cover, 5 are clearly preachers of one type or another. My local JW always has one on her and I am sure that the JW nearest you has one too.

For those of you who can not get the mag so easily I am going to write the article down in it's entirety so as to eliminate any questions about my editing info to meet my own needs.

The magazine itself is titled "How Can You Choose A GOOD RELIGION? "

The article that caught my eye was on page 5 and titled "GOOD RELIGION PROMOTES High Moral Standards"

Well lets see if I can finish writing out this article without loosing it again.

Page 5, August 1st, 2009

GOOD RELIGION PROMOTES High Moral Standards

Good religion elevates our thinking and shows us how to improve our conduct. It supplorts us in the struggle to do what is right and brings out the best in us. How do we know that good religion does that?
Notice what the apostle Paul wrote to forst-century Christians who lived in Corinth, Greece. That ancient city was notorious for its immoral lifestyle. Paul warned: "Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God/" Then Paul added: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God/" (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, The Holy Bible-New International Version) Imagine - good religion helped some who were formerly without moral standards to become clean and upright servants of God!
By contrast, the Bible warns: "The time will come when people will not listen to sound doctrine, but will follow their own desires and will collect for themselves more and more teachers who wil tell them what they are itchinc to hear."-2 Timothy 4:3, Today's English Version.
How do the religions that you know of measure up in this regard? Do they uphold the Bible's high moral standards? Or do they water down the clear counsel found in God's Word, telling people only "what they are itching to hear"?

To help you determine whether a particular religion is producing good fruit, why not take the time to answer the following questions?

CONTINUED

TOPIC: MARRIAGE.
what the bible teaches: "Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure, God will judge as guilty those who take part in sexual sins."- Hebrews 13:4, New Century Version.

QUESTION: Does this religion require that among its members, couples who live together be legally married?

TOPIC:Divorce

WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: "When asked whether there was ever any grounds for divorce, Jesus said: "Whoever puts away his wife, except for immorality, and marries another, commits adultery."- Matthew 19;9, New Catholic Edition of the Holy Bible.

QUESTION: Does this religion respect Jesus' direction and allow divorce and remarriage - but only on the grounds of immorality?

TOPIC: Sexual morality
WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body." - 1 Corinthians 6:18,NIV.
"Even the women pervert the natural use of their sex by unnatural acts. In the same way the men give up natural sexual relations with women and burn with passion for each other. Men do shameful things with each other, and as a result they bring upon thenselves the punishment they deserve for their wrongdoing." Romans1:26,27,TEV.

QUESTION: Does this religion teach that sexual immorality either between a man and a woman or between a couple of the same sex is a sin?

TOPIC: Courageously upholding Bible standards among its members.

WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: "You must not associate with those who call themselves believers in Christ but who sin sexually, or are greedy, or worship idols, of abuse others with words, or get drunk, or cheat people. Do not even eat with people like that." (1 Corinthians 5:11, NCV) What should happen to those who claim to be Christian but who are unrepentant sinners? "Expel the wicked man from among you," states God's Word.- 1 Corithians 5:13,NIV.

QUESTION: Does this religion remove from its membership roll any who unrepentantly ignore Bible standards?

So I ask myself the question "does this religion remove from its membership roll any who unrepentantly ignore Bible standards" twice.

I was raised a Catholic. Although the Kennedy family were some of the most humanitarian folks around they didn't get great scores for respecting their marriage vows or drunkardly conduct. Never removed from membership.

Spencer Tracy, excellent actor and seemingly nice guy. Had a nearly lifelong affair with Kate Hepburn while still married to his Catholic wife. Never removed from membership.

Farrah Fawcett, has a child with O'Neal 24 years ago, stays in sexual relationship with O'Neal for the last 25 years without ever marrying him. Does two Playboy pictorals plus a Playboy DVD and dies being remembered as a "devout Catholic"

Seems as if the rules for being a Catholic in good standing change when your rich and famous.

Now since I have given becoming a JW myself some thought I will again ask myself this question. DOES THIS RELIGION REMOVE FROM ITS MEMBERSHIP ROLL ANY WHO UNREPENTANTLY IGNORE BIBLE STANDARDS?

'Well lets see, Prince can't be very repentant about fornicating and masturbating if he writes songs about it can he? He isn't hiding his relationship with Bria that has lasted for over a year and most deffinately is not platonic. He can't be disfellowshipped if he gave a shout out to the Graham family while on the Tavis Smiley talk show. No one must have said anything since to him since he sang some of those same songs in Switzerland recently.

Seems like again, the rules are different for the rich and famous.

No, I am saying that I have thought about it and gone so far as to attend the Kingdom Hall near me on a regular basis. I've also been doing Bible study for over six months now. I still am no way near becoming a member. Unlike what most people think they do not drag you into their "cult" they prefer that you think things through and not take the step to become a Baptized member until you are sure that their religion is the right one for you. I do not find them pushy at all.

you dont have to explain all that to me , i am familiar with the faith.

since you have studied with Jehovah's Witnesses you know that people should not judge eachother. Especially when you are not aware of the real facts, or dont know the person at all.

So kind advise to you... just mind your own spriritual growth as I, Prince and other people watch their own wink

you say i cant eat or do things with people that are not Jehovah's Witnesses?

Hmm would be a difficult life then.... Ofcourse Jehovah's Witnesses do interact and eat with other people that are not of the same faith.

Remember Jesus? Once they asked Jesus why he was having dinner with sinners instead with believers.

U know his answer right?

So Jesus gave us a perfect example... Eat with others , interact with others try to save those others.

No,No ,No I did not say that What I am saying is that the article states that according to Corintians 5:13 one should not eat with people that are known fornicators, greedy, drunkards, etc. These are not just any old fornicators and sinners but ones who CLAIM to be christians. Jesus ate with sinners who had not yet been saved. He did not eat with those who CLAIMED to be his followers but infact their actions showed that they were not his followers at all. Do you see the difference?

Christ gives those who have not yet heard the word a break. He does not ask them to live by a gospel that they have never heard before. BUT, if you claim to be liveing "the Truth" and instead are living a life against Christian teachings it becomes important for those around you to not associate with you so as not to condone your behavior and possibly follow in your path.

Ofcourse i understand and see the difference. So this rule is applied to people who are in the 'truth' . But it is not applied to people of other faiths or denominations, unless they make clear they are against the 'truth'

In that case the advise is... let them be and seek for better compagnions.

But to stay on topic... what is your aim with this thread about Prince and the religion of his choice>?

Like I said there seems to be a piece of sand under my shell and it just won't go away.

If Jehovah's Witnesses are true to their word and do not believe that those who are Baptized believes who sin and are not repentant of it should no longer be considered members then why is this guy still a member? Is he getting to go against many of their teachings and being quite bold about it I might add, without any fear of disfellowship because of his celebrity status and $$$$ ?

Is he getting treated differently than the other Brothers in Kingdom Hall?

Now it was there own article that I quoted word for word that clearly is meant to suggest the reader look at their religion be it Catholic, Mormon, Lutheran, etc. But what I did was not only applied their question to my childhood religion of Catholism but also to the Jehovah Witnesses themselves. Do THEY pick and choose based on income etc who to remove from membership?

Next, part 2, Does Prince pick and choose what tennants of his faith he wants to incorporate into his life. ?

A month ago Lisa Presley said she feared for her ex husband because like her father he surrounded himself with people who would never tell him no and never disagree with him.

I wonder if even those who are in Prince's company and are JW's will not tell P that what he is doing is not right. Given the fact that it is said that Larry Graham's house was bought for him by P what chance is there that Larry would say boo to P never mind forbid him to eat at his table!!!! You can not tell me that Larry and the other members/elders of P's congregation are comfortable with the lyrics on Lotusflow3r and yet I don't think they'd say crap to P if they had a mouth full of it.

It's not healthy when you don't have even one person in your life who doesn't owe you anything, who you haven't bought in one way or another and who doesn't love you enough to say no to you and take the chance of loosing your friendship. A friend with a bit of integrity would be a nice addition to P's life.

Too be short you dont know this guy, you dont know which kingdom hall he shows up, what conventions he visits or any other detail about his personal life.

So all you do is telling out loud your own fantasies. There is no difference among Jehovah's Witnesses, whether you are rich or poor , famous or just the guy from the street , there is no difference.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not idolise people. so i am happy to tell you that Prince is in Good standing with his religion.

Again everyone is under the same rule.. doesnt matter who you are. Prince is just one of the crowd if he attends meetings.

And trust me.. elders speak to everyone if there is a reason for it to do so.

More than anything else I am asking questions and noticing inconsistencies. You are right I do not know which Kingdom Hall he attends . You say that he is in Good Standing how do you know, PLEASE TELL? Maybe you can explain why a man who makes a mockery of his faith is in good standing with it. I know that the JW's near me hated when I brought up the man's name and said he was a kook and walked the fine line between being a JW and not being one as far as they could see. Do the standards change when the congregation is in LA?

I would have more respect for the JW's if they did what P needs the most, to be treated like a normal human being and be taken aside spoken to and even disfellowshipped when necessary. Like I said he needs someone that he can't manipulate in his life.

come on clown.... you dont have a clue of what you are talking about when it comes to Prince or Jehovah's Witnesses.

By the way i know that he is in good standing. The last message that i received about that was about february this year. so about 5 months ago,

Who is the source? The bass player Larry Graham

So i think its time to end the nonsense since you dont know what you are talking about.. not about Prince and not about Jehovah's Witnesses
