P mentioned in comic strip

never heard of it before. it's a diss (kinda).

http://gorillabrigade.com...e-4-u.html

p.s. obviously a writer who knows his work (check the title of the cartoon).

That's what I figured. Normally that stuff doesn't piss me off, but to quote a famous recently deceased pop star: "That's ignorant!"

That's not any worse than what most people post on here.

In my opinion, Prince was better than Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was a pop star; Prince is an ARTIST.

I don't take offense with the shot at Prince, but I do take offense that the writer was ignorant enough to make a statement like that. All bias aside, it shows that he isn't a fan of music in general to say such a thing. Even non-fans can't deny P is a legend.

well, I like it and think it's funny. biggrin

Why? Maybe becuz Prince has really made me depressed, he used to be brilliant 1978 to 1995 - maybe the best, but is he still? when you think of the albums post 1995...?

Obviously the writer has a bias against P. I don't know if it's funny. I didn't laugh but I didn't take offense either (not that I'm Prince and should take offense... he's not my father). But it showed (to me) that 20 some-odd years later, MJ and Prince are still considered in the same breath, no matter what they contributed to music over that span of time.

When you grew up in the 80s, you were either listening to one or the other and in some cases, both.

meh, it's just a drawing. Definitely not something to get pissed about. Unless you bought a subscription to lotusflow3r.com.

The beauty of it is that P will do a world tour in the next couple years and all the naysayers disappear once again. All the crap d'your, the latest dud of the moment fades away...and Prince will still be standing, selling out arenas, blowing away his audiences, making a new album better than the last. That's my Prince.

That's what I'm saying. Why bother, ya know? Seems you'd find a hotter act in town unless you're a glutton for punishment.

Lol. For real, I think is disrespectful to MJ as well as Prince but that is just me. I am a Prince fan and make no bones about it. I was saddened by the loss of MJ because I have friends that are diehard fans of his. I liked his work and had nothing but respect for it. Don't understand why this artist had to make such a nasty statement in light of the passing of a musical legend and had to put down another musical legend. What was his point? Why is there a need to put down one person to uplift another?

To be fair, I went back and read other Gorilla Brigade strips (are they still called that?). I understand the point of it is to be edgy and harsh, and to some extent it works. No argument on the one about Jimmy Fallon. But it seems to me that the writer was too busy trying to think of a random jab instead of one that was funny or much less made sense. Just a thought.

I don't know about this one. It's definately a "open to interpretation" skit. I can see how it can be funny and offensive at the same time.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

what I didn't understand about the comic was why the illustrator/writer (whoever) named it "No More Prince 4 u", an obvious reference to No More Candy 4 U. So he knows Prince's work,at least his most recent and who can listen to that song and not like it? Or maybe he went to Amazon.com and looked up Prince's latest song titles and just picked a random one to show that the strip is current?

Or maybe he does like Prince and is/was frustrated by Prince's lack of musical whatever over the past decade or so. Face it, every Prince album (even lotus and mplsound) over the past decade has duds in there. Planet Earth, I can't get past the second half. 3121, there are really cheesy songs on there.

I also went back and re-read the Gorilla Brigade strips and I liked them. And the more I read the P one, I kinda like it now too. It's all in jest, I suppose.
