First 2 Last:For You vs Lotusflow3r

If Prince told you to choice between these two albums,and which every had the most buyers,that was the style he would go back to.Which one would you buy.

I appreciate that this question is choosing between 1978 and 2009. Either style or time frame is Prince as a growing musician...I can't help but absolutely adore, "For You," because it is Prince's main foundation that all following years of albums stands on.

As a woman that Loves Prince...I'd go with "For You," because it's all love songs. cool

i rather listen 2 new power soul... than for you

his vocals seemed over layered.....
the disco thing is not really exciting to me....

lotus flower is the work of a icon still expirementing....

For you was a great debut for 20yr old rookie who has not'found his sound yet.

I would pick For You. I say that only because that album gave me a taste of what was to come. The vocals on the title track are amazing. Also "My Love Is Forever" is one of my favorite P songs...ever.

I agree with u there, i gave 10/10 after listening to it a few times,
i think i won´t gave it a 10 anymore after all the hype about
the new albums is gone...

Ive been listening to FOR YOU over and over for the last 30 years. Lotusflower, after the first month it has already started gathering dust and will probably be put into storage alongside emancipation and the NEWS and TRC.

While I like "For You", I wouldn't want Prince "going back to the style" of In Love, Just As Long As We're Together or My Love Is Forever lol...Hell, I think Dirty Mind more or less broke Prince from that earlier style for the rest of his career. LF, though, would have Prince revisiting a style that's more organic musically, and infusing quite a bit of impressive guitar work into the proceedings from here on out. I'll take Boom, Colonized Mind, $ and Dreamer over everything on For You 10 times out of 10 (other than Soft And Wet, that is).

Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

For You is a more interesting piece with the knowledge we have now of what Prince did afterwards... And Soft & Wet (and I'll throw in my album fave, Crazy You) are absolute classics better than what LF has to offer....

However, I think if those were the only two albums I ever knew of, and I heard them both at the same time, I would cast my vote to Lotusflower...

For you just lacks the oomf of an album I want to listen to. I think if Prince had the studio knowledge he has now it would have ended up better.
