While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Old topic. There was a lot of chatter from non Prince followers about Prince's guitar solo during his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I guess many were not aware of Prince's amazing guitar skills. Initially, I thought the performance was a typical Prince performance because he always performs great. Recently, I've watched the clip and have come to appreciate it. Prince really shines. I've always liked Tom Petty. What's your thought on the performance? Also, should Prince work or perform again with Petty or the Traveling Wilburys?

i cant stand Tom Petty but a lot of people called me after that performance and told me i was right about Prince all this time

before that i think most people had not paid attention or either the majority of Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, etc. fans had no interest in Prince before

many of my friends were impressed at his guitar playing on that one.

It was a great performance, but, the whole falling backwards off the stage bit was un-necessary and a bit much. The performance was suppose to be about George Harrison, not Prince. Look at Tom Petty's face when "P" does it. He kinda looks like "What the fuck is he doin?"

loved prince's performance, IMHO he out-shined from the rest of the performers. I remember when the video was up on youtube, the majority of the comments were about prince and people commented on how great he is on guitar and his performance

Saw a clip a while back, Prince was amazing, Petty didn't seem to mind.

A great performance, I like the way he stays back in the shadows and waits till its his moment before he starts all the showmanship.

I would have like to see what that group could accomplish with a Pink Floyd cover.

I would like to see Prince do more of these kind of collaborations with well-established and well-respected artists. Say what you will about Tom Petty, but the guy is talented and he is still very respected in the rock world.

maybe not exactly, because Prince was also inducted that night, so
the song and performance were for George, but P's solo is totally
justified as he played for George and himself in the same night,
on the same song, during that fantastic solo.

the look is priceless, he was in awe..love it!

personally, I see nothing wrong with Prince's performance. Even if you consider it a tribute what's wrong with celebrating instead of being overly somber.
