why does reunion show have to be only step back? Some orgers think that Prince and the Revolution reunion isn't what Prince should do,because its only about nostalgy and a step back

in his musical evolution. But why should we look only like that? Can we see it from another perspective as how would those 80's songs sound today, what kind of energy Prince and the Revolution could produce? Few years ago Eric Clapton reunited with his fellow Cream band mates and guess what, they didn't sound nostalgic at all ,no big marshall stacks no acid influanced riffs ,they sounded like Cream of today. If Lennon was still alive, the Beatles would probably reunite. Commodores are reuniting this year also . So don't you wanna hear where are Prince and the Revolution today in music? I think they should reunite only because they can still do it,everybody is still alive from that band and they matured as musicians and people. i don't know who wrote the note u r speaking of, but i think a reuinion has alot of factors to it. Music has alot to do with spiritual and life expreiences and the people in that band have all changed significantly by now. If they're meant together in a reunion they will and it will be Great if not then thats Great too. Because the past can never be redone. So whether they play together again or not it'll be the right thing and thats Great. [Edited 6/10/09 18:53pm] [Edited 6/10/09 18:54pm]

I don't look at Prince's decisions as backward thinking...Whatever reuinion is down the line, is Prince's current day.
Last Night, I spent another lonely Christmas...Darlin' Darlin' U shoulda been there.~Prince.

i'd be into a revolution reunion WITHOUT prince. most of them have released solo records anyway, so it's not like most of them are shy about singing. what's the problem then? it'd be cool to see them write some new original material together, and maybe even re-record one or two old prince & the revolution songs that never made their way past bootleg limbo (you-know-who willing, of course). and while it would be cool enough to have this be just a reunion of the purple rain-era revolution, why not bring on other revolutionaries? bring dez into the mix, bring in eric and eddie m. and sheila and atlanta bliss and heck, even gayle and andre if they'll dare to be part of such a thing! and they could do like talking heads did in the 90s when they wanted to reunite but david byrne wasn't having it - the other three band members made an album anyway, and they invited a bunch of people to sing lead vocals on each song. could you imagine...erykah badu and the revolution? (your favorite singer here) and the revolution??? and then one big killer of a concert where all the guest vocalists come together to perform their songs, backed by the revolution? that would be hot. there are totally ways they could reunite without having to "look back". If Prince doesn't want to get off the pot and make this happen, then they should just go it alone. I believe it's foolish to consider a Revolution reunion as looking back. To me, it would be righting the wrong. He never should have broken this band up. Why do we scream at each other?

I welcomed this idea during the celebration times.... now it's just best to let what was stellar remain as it was.

Yes! That's something worth witnessing. I do think that's the only way to beat the bittersweet nostalgia.

I used to want a reunion a whole lot but the way Prince has been lately...no thanks! I'd rather just hold onto my found memories of the Revolution and not let them be tainted by whatever trick bag Prince would come out of! Of course, I'm a Liberal! I'm an American, damn it!
This country was founded on the premise of Liberty and Justice for ALL...remember? My wallet is STILL on hiatus! ![]()

If I remember correctly there was a time when Prince was up for the idea of a Rev reunion- I can't remember how long ago it's been but I swear I remember Wendy or Lisa saying in an interview that Prince wanted some huge crazy production at an awards show whith like balloons and elaborate costumes and a marching band down the aisles (it's been a LONG time so don't quote me on this but I know it was something like that ![]()

Anyone else remember this or know what I'm talking about? . [Edited 6/11/09 9:52am] I honestly think P was just jerking interested fans around with that shit. But that's just me.. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.
