'89 gets it with '79 a close second. Didn't like the vast majority of the 3CD set this year and '99 was the year of The New Master and Rave. Ick!

I became a Prince fan because of Batman, but I could do without all the hollywood selling out/WB movie tie ins. It was cool when I experienced it in '89 as a kid, but looking back...c'mon... THAT was the hardest Prince tried to be commercial and please his audience---ever.

the winner is 09 for MPLsOUND and Lotusflow3r
2nd is 79 for the superlative Prince album and the fact he was such an up and coming
3rd is 89 as the Batman album was mediocre and he was planning crap like Graffiti Bridge, (Partial forgiveness for Scandalous maxi single with 21 minute version of Scandalous, Sex, When 2R in Love (even if it was 87)). Also the song feel u up is quite good from 89.
4th is 99, Mediocre Rave album and the hideous 1999 new master what was he thinking?

all worthy-can't pick one-but i'd say thuis yearWAS TO BE GREAT-its just what has actually materialised is-not so great. Just making a good album-then expecting it to do anything without promo-or an outside US release-no tour.....this is Prince remember-the live genius ? Seemingly-not so anymore-so every year except 09 as for me-it's been spoilt somewhat with empty promises

All..but I'm going to say 79. The excitement and raw energy of young P was something to behold back then. The "Prince" LP is tame compared to today's music but back then it caused a little stir.

And seeing the ORIGINAL "Lover" video was shocking. I remember seeing it late one night on a music show and I think that's where the "gay" rumours kicked in.

P was a wild kid back then.

89 Prince any day!

I'm really feeling the 89 Prince now. I've been playing the hell out of Lemon Crush for the last 4 days.

And the 79 Prince is second. I'm a straight up fool for Prince with long bouncy, sexy hair. :inlove:

I could not tell you which of these years I felt was better for me or Prince. I do know that each year was an experience to remember. Prince is True to himself, I dig the groove!

Each one in their own right!

My favorite isn't on there, 84'.
