excelent, this must be the rarest as I am the only person that's got a copy!!

I have it too. I think the print error is that one of the mixes is on there twice and is not listed on the sleeve.

It's not really a misprint. The first run, the actual record was pressed with "Paisley Park" and "She's always in my hair" on the A-side and "She's always in my hair" and "Paisley park (remix)" on the B-side. The sleeve for the record didn't mention "She's always in my hair" being on the B-side, only the A-side. There was a run where they fixed the actual record so "She's always in my hair" wasn't on the B-side. I have both, the fixed copy is rarer.

Here is the mistake one:

Here is the fixed version:

I wish I had gotten this in 92 when I was in college. The guy at a local music store had it and I didn't get it because of my lack of funds.

Did you see it at Hot Hits? I sold mine there in '92 eek

Hmmm.....I know cassettes are usually worthless but....Ive never heard anything about Black album on cassette. I bought a sealed one years ago from a classical music store (?). Im just curious if it's worth anything.

Was there a re-release by Warners? Mine has a peach colored catalogue number on the spine, and nothing else.

ONA Piano CD.....lost the cd years ago. Found the sleeve but the CD--I have no CLUE what happened. DAMN! I dont even care about the value, I just wanna hear Young & Beautiful again!! :*(

Back in 1989 I dated the VP of Warners daughter. She had a cassette of The Dream Factory which had the Paisley Park logo and catalog number on it.

Does anyone have the black album on vinyl?

The last time I heard of an original Black Album vinyl pressing was at a Sotheby's auction and it went for $13,500. Never of any circulating after that. It was reported that only 500 originals survived Prince destroy order.

Don't know when the auction took place but I'm quite sure it's been some time (before 2000). In 2002 I got a copy (*no* fake) at ebay for 720 EUR. At least I guess it was in 2002 - check Alex's Sleevographia. The price for this sale is listed.

right. I'll go with that one. You know I almost bought that that evening.
I ended up dashing out of the store ...with the intent to pick it up the next day. when I returned to the record store all of those albums had been pulled.

I hate I didn't go on and pick it up right then. oh well ...ya snooze ...ya loose, as they say.

I heard back in '96 or '97 it was going for about 13k....if you could find a copy for sale from somebody. I don't know if that's true. But could be.

Afraid not - the misprints have been on eBay a few times over the last couple of years. If i recall correctly they didn't realy go for that much. A lot of non-Prince dealers don't consider it to be rare (at least in the auctions i've noticed). Believe or not, i picked up a copy last year for less than £10.
The mis-print with White leterring is a lot more rarer (and still on my wanted list), and some lucky person jumped on a buy-it-now price of less than £2 recently. Not sure if the deal actually went through, though.

We've talked about this record many times on this site. It's rumored only 30 exsist.

Here's a story from Goldmine magazine about it, featuring an interview with me and Alex from Sleevographia and Tim, a former moderator of HQ:

Love these threads. But I almost didn't add a reply - I felt a bit like maybe bragging around. wink

However, if listing rare records don't forget about I Wish U Heaven 12"/UK test pressing (either purple or blue) and Batman 12"/UK test pressing/clear vinyl (either labeled or white labeled).

And sorry, but no, to all those who asked every now and then - I have changed my mind and don't consider selling. cool

I was at a shop recently and found a vinyl of it...

But I think it was one of many boots.
