Well here we are....

SLAMMIN!

Catchy, fonky, full of great harmonies...one of my favorites from emancipation. Definitely a must have on any 1 disc Emancipations.

On the one ya'll say housequake, top of your body let me hear ya shout!

Not a bad song. I like the lack of a chorus. It makes it unique and different. Still seems like something is missing from it. Not sure what. I can't put my finger on it. But it's not a song I skip on the disk(s).

Slummin'

Prince's attempts at new jack swing are actually worse than Prince's hip hop.

While's Prince's talents are unquestionable, his musical taste is suspect if we judge by what he has chosen to try to incorporate into his sound.

Slammin',tho the rap in the middle does take away from it.It doesn't ruin it,but IMHO he should have replaced it with a solo or something.Anything but that weak ass rap...great song nonetheless! cool

Weak! A huge letdown, honestly but mostly because of its placement on this album. It told me that Emancipation wouldn't be close to what I had hoped it would be. I could not believe this lame song came second on this supposed masterpiece.

No doubt, my fave album, too...yeah, 1999 & PURPLE RAIN got me into his music hardcore, but EMANCIPATION is ,4 me, The One. & i've alwayz wanted an extended version of RIGHT BACK HERE IN MY ARMS...(without a DJ talking over it, if ya'll know 2 what i refer...)

I see others agree with you (not so much about Emancipation being their favorite album, though you have one supporter there, too!) about it being slammin, so sorry I won't call you crazy smile

But personally, I expected (or hoped) that Emancipation would be more creative, like Joint 2 Joint is. I have grown to really appreciate the album, but I still feel Right Back Here in my Arms is a bit ordinary & bland.
