On this date in 1993, Prince announced he
wouldn't make any more new recordings under terms of his old
contract. The singer said he would fulfill his contract with Warner
Brothers by delving into his stockpile of 500 unreleased
recordings. It was part of a battle with the label that led to the
artist leaving Warner Records and establishing his own N-P-G label,
where he has since produced new music.
