Train Very funky song. Ole school' Parade era Prince. Damn WB should've just let him release Sign O' the Times as Dream Factory and been done with it! "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?"

Or better yet, WB should have let him release Crystal Ball instead of SOTT.

What was it supposed to be Dream Factory or Crystal Ball? "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?"

The version that had 'Train' on it was on Dream Factory. I just like the Crysatal Ball album which also could have been released at that time.

'dream factory' was mastered for release in mid- 1986 but then prince disbanded the revolution and decided to shelve the album. he carried over many of the tracks to 'crystal ball,' which wb refused to put out. he then shaved it down to two discs and called it 'sign o the times.' in the years since, edited studio versions of all the remaining 'crystal ball' tracks save for 'rebirth of the flesh' and 'the ball' have been officially released. there are quite a few 'dream factory' tracks which have still never been officially released. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

He gave "Train" to Mavis Staples for her Paisley Park album, "Time Waits for No One". Unfortunately, he took out the big, echoey train-on-the-tracks sounding drums and replaced them with a much simpler beat on her version.

Too bad, that takes away some of the atmosphere imo. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?"

I like Crystal Ball better too, but if Prince didn't cut out some songs to release Sign O' The Times instead of the 3 lp opus, most probably we wouldn't have had Lovesexy, and maybe not even the Black Album. To me, Eye No is a lot better then The Ball. [Edited 5/10/09 4:56am]

Yes it is. I haven't heard it yet, but the original version is one of the best songs Prince & The Revolution composed.

U can find it officially released though, if U can get your hands on a copy of Mavis Staples' album Tame waits for no one. Oh, sorry, it is Time...
