'dream factory' was mastered for release in mid- 1986 but then prince disbanded the revolution and decided to shelve the album. he carried over many of the tracks to 'crystal ball,' which wb refused to put out. he then shaved it down to two discs and called it 'sign o the times.' in the years since, edited studio versions of all the remaining 'crystal ball' tracks save for 'rebirth of the flesh' and 'the ball' have been officially released. there are quite a few 'dream factory' tracks which have still never been officially released.

Yeah, there's a number of songs on the second disc on the version I have anyway that I don't know of ever coming out.

Is that the song that goes "Theres a train that's leaving in the morning, that will take you down to Santa Fe....."?

He gave "Train" to Mavis Staples for her Paisley Park album, "Time Waits for No One". Unfortunately, he took out the big, echoey train-on-the-tracks sounding drums and replaced them with a much simpler beat on her version.

Prince spent three days in his home studio, July 7th to 9th taping "Train" for the Dream Factory project. It was later revamped for use by Mavis Staples. The version released on Time Waits For No One retains the basic tracks of Prince's original recording for Dream Factory. The song uses an unusual drum machine sound to mimic a train engine, as well as a traditional R&B horn performance by Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss.
