Prince and Oprah.... why doesn't she invite him and help a brotha out ?

I don't understand why she won't invite him on her show. I realize he does not like interviews but she can really help him with publicity and not probe into his personal life, no?

Been there, done that. And who says she hasn't invited him? He slightly dissed Oprah a year or two after his appearance on the show. And although I doubt she got wind of it, I also doubt Prince has even attempted to get back on the show.

He NEEDS to talk about his personal life. He needs to just SAY IT. Just spill it all. This "mysterious" shit is played out.

So what does that mean, she can't invite him back...?

There's one question that she'd have to ask which makes a second Oprah interview as good as out of the question.

No one said that. It doesn't mean anything. It means he won't do her show again, because that's how he rolls. He's got Leno and Ellen anyway.

He made some comment a year or two or three after about interviewers, and that the good ones ask better questions than "On a regular day, what do you do?"

Hmm. Wasn't Oprah jamming to Prince with then Senator Obama at the NAACP Awards 4 years ago? Said nice things of him after his Oscar appearances?

My opinion on this is that Oprah books MONTHS in advance and if he wanted to appear, he had to get that ish booked then. Leno can book 3 weeks in advance for 3 shows for someone like Prince.

Oprah got ego. Every right to have ego. HOWEVER, someone of Prince's stature, an african-american independant artist, should maybe have presidence over say another episode with Dr. whatshisnuts is all.

Prince was slated to do an appearance on Oprah back in late 1999/Early 2000 but stepped back from promotion as the deal with Arista soured.

Yes, Oprah should reach out to Prince as he has reached out to her recently to be on the show. (Not going to answer how recent either) Perhaps Oprah does not think Prince is relevant enough to be on the show. I don't know. This is why sometimes a number 1 album helps you because it establishes your relevance to someone like Oprah.

I have not checked out Oprah's guest list over the past few months but I am sure there has been guests that Prince is way more bigger than that have been booked.

Gonna leave it at that.

As long as the demand is to not talk about the last time he was on, I don't see how a new Oprah interview could happen.

^^something that happened about 13 years ago is really not worth mentioning at this time.

It should be respected what he was going thru was very tramautic and how he chose to deal with it, by not mentioning it on tv, is his business. Oprah is grown enough to understand that.

The fans care more about this than Oprah does. She has more important things on her mind.

He was not very truthful when he was on there with Mayte'. I know Oprah does not like lies. So he probably won't be back. But she does rock on his music! lol

What I kind of think is that Prince is shy when it comes to talking...Prince is outgoing in his musical element...and I'm sure with friends is fun and sociable...yet with TV...Prince seems quiet. I can see him hiding behind a mind that has world's 2 say...and not enough time just kind of closes him like a flower. Bless his heart. cool

Huh, since when did Oprah become a charity?

We're talking the show, not the person, am I right? They are not the same, the person isn't the only one calling the shots on who's to be on the show. It's not like she can put a neighbor on the show, because he made a really good joke the other night at the barbecue. Get it? rabbit

Of course, her neighbor would be an A-list celebrity, but you that's beside the point! lol

Dr Funkenbery I know you aren't still pretending to not be part of the NPGMC camp. You really aren't the right person to try to steer the discussion.

BTW, when are you going to admit that you are Dr Funkenberry? cool

Oprah needs to get her act together, do the right thing and support her fellow black brother and help him promote his work. Like j7 said, she's partied with P a few years ago so what's the problem now? But then again, she blindsided Ludacris with her views of rap when he wasn't even there to talk about his music, so who knows if going on her show is really a wise move. I don't know, I just wanna see Prince in as many places as possible selling as many CD's as possible and I would hope that one day Oprah will let P come back to her show again.

I just wanna be able to turn back time and watch a turd go back inside my fourth grade teacher when he takes a dunk. Listen girl, it ain't gonna happen. Why are people blaming or flaming Oprah for not having a certain someone on her show. That show is a machine, it doesn't act on whims. Nor on favors. Get some perspective. confused
