Has Prince ever been to Cyprus?

"Cyprus, if I never get to take you swimming there"

Of all the (two syllable) places in the world Prince picks Cyprus. Seems strange to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the place, just seems a bit of a strange reference from Prince.

While I am on the subject of the new stuff can anybody tell me which Doobie Brothers song is being sampled on Valentina?

I looked up cypress and I found that it is also used to mean deep sadness,
I thought the lyric in 4ever was about the sad feeling he would have if we don't ever get to go swimming somewhere, and my ? is where are we going swimming?

Uhm it is somewhat part of greece, Part of the island belongs to greece and part to turkey, it was split in a dispute...

right let me get this straight with you guys - first off Cyprus is its own dependant Island (which is very beautiful by the way) but it is part of Greece (in regards to colonies.) It is a Greek Island. Turkey, in the 1970's decided to start a war with Cyprus as they got nowhere with Greece and in the end managed to occupy half of the island which is still to this day.
Unfortunatly, they burned our houses, churches etc and a lot of people became homeless, left alone, and/or dead.
up till now, there still hasnt been much of a resolution and i dont think there will be any time soon. there is a lot of politics involved and i just cant be bothered to get in to it.

...and yes (my pops from Greece and moms from Cyprus). If you ever get a chance, go to both as they're some beautiful islands there in the mediterranean.
