I think Prince's niche is in his timing, the same thing that makes him a wonderful rhythm guitarist. He's not the most articulate, in comparison to a few other funky and killer bassists (Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten), but I don't think anyone can take away from him his level of chops. The boy's bad. | |

Definitely in the class of Larry, Louis, Bootsy, Bernard Edwards and Verdine White. How he devised and arranged music around a bass line like the one from "Lady Cab Driver" is uncanny. I don't really like the bass solo in this song, it sounds more like slapping and plucking on the guitar. there is no low end. i like the bass playing on the rainbow children tho, does anybody know if that is prince?
