How well is the new PRINCE selling at your TARGET?

How well is the new PRINCE selling at your TARGET? Do you think it will debut at #1

There were still a billion copies today when I got mine and I didn't see a line or anybody even slowing down and take a look at Prince's new creation.
I think this is another album for the hardcore fans.
Mainstream America has put Prince to rest a long long time ago, but I don't think he cares. He makes music to mainly please himself and the fans who adore him no matter what.

No way of knowing, but I did see several people grabbing one and the store displays were nice.

I don't think that full-kiosk treatment and floor graphic will last long though. That is prime real estate and more new releases will be out next week for sure.

They will probably leave the ceiling signs up for a while though.

Plus, keep in mind that many people on the Org are buying multiple copies.

Well the torrent came out yesterday afternoon and as of this moment less than 2000 have been downloaded. Pretty much DOA, people don't even seem interested enough to steal it.

It looked like it was decent but the target by me had A TON of displays...actually a little to much considering how little real promo he has done for the album.

At my local Target in Brooklyn it was selling pretty well. There were two big displays with the CDs in them and I'd say each display was about three fourths empty. Also, the two people in front of me in line were buying the albums as well so it seemed like they were selling pretty regularly.

Detroit

My neighborhood Target was really busy yesterday. There was a guy walking right behind me when I grabbed mine who got a copy too. I heard somebody talking about Prince as I headed to the register. The cashier said "oh you have the new Prince". I said "Yeah, I've been a fan since 1979." She said "Yeah, brings back memories".. cool

Hopefully Lotusflow3 will sell better than Janet Jackson's last album. Maybe with good review itll help get the album out there, and if he announces tours

If it was worth it id agree, but sorry its not. One disc is a rehash n recycle of 80's bits and pieces that have been over used, the other is just a man trying to prove he can play guitar. the third discs just says that prince just found some fan that give one hellva good bj.

It looked like quite a few copies were sold from the rack at the Target where I bought the CD, in Arlington VA. There were still alot on the shelf but it definitely seemed like it was selling nicely.

The display itself says to display until May 20th (or was it the 15th as posted above).

Well, AC/DC hadn't released an album in eight years before releasing Black Ice exclusively at Walmart, and it sold 700,000 copies in the first week. I don't know if Prince will sell that many, but considering that fans are getting three albums for the price of one (and at a very reasonable price BTW), this may encourage casual fans who thought that Prince was washed up to buy his album. If it sells over 250,000 copies this first week, it should be considered a success.

after flying back home to SF from the LA show, i jumped in a car and hit the target in San Bruno... which I wouldnt condsider Prince-land..

there was one big display by the register and one big display in the music section.

both seemed to be picked thru. definitely wasnt totally full and definitely not totally empty (yet).. i was pretty suprised that they sold any there at all, since it was around noon on the first day...

i was buying something at the counter and saw 2 people pick one up as i waited.. so very pleasantly suprised...

and im really happy with the album(s)... lots of great stuff.... im wondering if the stuff i dont like will grow on me (like 'ol skool company' that everyone seems to love)...

I noticed a friend posted pics on his Flickr stream from Monday, and the shelves there were still well stocked. However, I went to the Target here in the 'burbs of Albany, NY on Sunday afternoon, and there was maybe 1 or 2 in any slot on the end cap. While I was standing here, one woman was looking at the set, picked it up, and said, "Hmmm." and took it to buy it. haha Go sister!

hmmm you know....it'd be kinda weird, yet funny, yet cool if it was available at my local Target store down here in Australia....then all I'd have to do is take a bus down to the shopping centre and pick it up. I'm gonna have to wait another week, but it's all good. Then again it's kinda weird yet incredibly funny at the same time that Prince is hooking up with Target in the first place. lol
