Song writing class for Preence!! Ok, Preence--can I call you Preence?? His royal sophistry? Well, no matter. Preence, I really like your two albums, really I do. They are really peechy keen and all, but I gotta tell you--or is that U?--you do need to still work on that song writin and stuff, ok? Sure, the songs on Lotus and MPLS are really good, but I don't listen to Preence for really good, I listen to Preence for mind bending, sock shredding, cat strangling great, classic music. U know what eye,mmm sayunnn! Sure, you hit it out the park with $, but maybe that was a fluke or worse an old song reworked. So, just to let you know what I mean by classic music, I'd like to show you some examples from past greats:

I'm sure Prince loves being told how to write songs. Well done. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

The Mods won't let me write what I want to, but believe me I'm putting it out in the universe and it ain't pretty.

More hot mess on prince.org Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

Okay, now run over to a Dave Grohl messageboard and proposed to him that he should replicate Here, Dance 4 Me, or Love Like Jazz. Next, you can post to John Fogerty to consider writing a song like The Morning After, or perhaps $. We'll see how serious their fans take your post on those boards, and how soon Grohl or Fogerty are able to duplicate Prince music. He is exactly who we thought he was

Well you didn't really pose us or Prince with a question to begin with.

On the pop writing tip, you cannot beat the Beatles. Preence, don't go lyin, sayin that they didn't inspire ATWIAD, they did and you know it. Wendy and Lisa told us so, you gimp. Listen, this is how you write pop: http://www.youtube.com/wa...US49XSN6Zs Listen to that guitar intro?? Holy sheet, Prince, listen!! What a verse, what a chorus! Listen 2 how the guitars work with the vocals! Prince, this is how you write classic stuff. Here is ok, but it aint this. That fella George Harrison knew how to write a song. Paul and John need to stand aside and recognise him for what he was....the best song writer in the Beatles.

now, to the rest of you... Do you seriously believe that this is the best Prince could do as far as song writing goes? Are these lyrics on par with The Cross, IIWYGF, or anything off Lovesexy or Parade??? This felt like Prince makin' albums just for the sake of makin' albums... Prince needs a little kick in the ass... so go'head 2freaky, go'head... As much as I'm LOVING what I've heard so far I've got to agree with you there. For this set of new songs, what I'm really enchanted with is the music not the lyrics. With the exception of "Colonized Mind" and even then he had to throw in a dig at the music industry. ![]()

I am not judging Prince, I am showing him other artists who make great art. Great art, we need it. I am not schooling them, they are. That's great ..... but i think the conversations Prince had with James Brown and Miles Davis in the past may have helped him a little better..... Is there a 24 hour drug store near by your house .... I witnessed this while I was up under the hood of my Volvo this weekend and I was rockin' out to Lotusflower... thankfully I couldn't hear most of what he was singin about and that made the album listenable... Black day. Stormy night. No love. No hope in sight. Not the most profound lyrics I have heard. or anything off Lovesexy
If see 11,
U can say it's 7. Deep, man, deep. or Parade???
Act your age, not your shoe size, maybe we could do the twirl. Are you sure you want to argue this point? We could go on and on. He is exactly who we thought he was
