I Go 2 Target And...: tell Us Ur Story 7:59 am, 1st in Tallahassee, FL

Hi All!
Location: The Parkway Target Tallahassee, FL

I tucked and roll out of bed 2 Target (managed 2 slip my Musicology tour shirt on) and was in the parking lot at 7:50. I can't seem 2 do this 4 work, I digres. Dude says 2 me "I knew u had 2 be a Prince fan". He's there 4 the CD as well and I actually made him stop picking it up so I could officially be the 1st person 2 get it! All the while we were chatting, the other 2 people who were there for non-Prince items like, "these folks ain't right". Anyone care to share ur xperience?
SO WHAT IF WE'RE CONTROLLING ALL THE OIL, IS IT WORTH THE CHILD DYING 4?

"Don't make my daughter sound like that Prince guy!" Joseph Jackson to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis

I was in the parking lot by 7:40AM. I was surprised that nobody else was out there waiting but I'm not sure why! A few people rolled up before, though. I think two different people where there for some video game thing that must have been in the ad as well. One couple that I did not expect to be there for the Prince Cd were. It was actually in the front. I figured I missed on on being the first person so I said never mind and went into the back to pick it up there (same kind of display....must have had at least 100 copies out with both displays). Anyway, picked it up and noticed and browsed through the other music (didn't look like they had any other Prince stuff...guess since it's an NPG release and I don't think any other NPG albums are in print, might even be in his contract not to push the "Purple Rain" and "The Very Best Of..." Cds. And did anyone else notice the display on the floor? It's the "Lotusflow3r" cover with a flower cut-out right in front of the music display. It will probably be ruined in a matter of days, though. I took a picture on my cell phone but I don't know if I can send it out to my email without paying extra.

Also, the cashier kept looking at the CD and said "I like old Prince" and I said "One of the CDs sounds like old Prince". She kind of reminded me of the Target lady on SNL (played by Katherine Wiig?).

Is this "Lotusflow3r"? Where did you get this?"

My story isn't that interesting. I woke up at 7.30am to go to a 9.00am church service. church ended at 10.00 and I got to Target around 11.30 to buy the CD.

Here's my story:

the Target opened at 10 am and I arrived at 10:05, I headed to the music area and a few Target ppl were changing the lotus flower picture hanging from the cieling and I asked why, they were kind of blocking the actual rack of the new albums, they said we have a better one and I looked at the one they were about to replace it with and it looked the same, I said can I have that old one please!! and they said no sorry, I said what about for a million dollars? They all smiled and laughed, one guy said do u have cash, I said yep, he said no sorry it's "licensed"

I said worth a try, and giggled to the counter, then behind me I peaked at what the customer was buying, sure enuf, 2copies of the Prince album!! (I thought should I buy 2, you never know)and the little girl he was with was so cute, saying that the target dog resembled a pit bull

I am so damnm happy right now thank you Prince

I love you!!~~

Walked in a few minutes after the lights came on this morning..headed straight for the electronics section under a big cardboard Lotus display.
An employee in a wheelchair asked if he could help me find anything..:Nope! Already found it!" He looked at the cd I was holding and then at my Purple Rain shirt.."Ohhh I see. You see that Prince guy on Leno that past few nights? Kinda weird."
Apparently the stores are only "leasing" the displays, cuz I asked what would be the fate of the displays after promotion was over and the wheelchair dude said they would have to send 'em back. sad

But anyway, I was happy to find out from the guy that I was the first one to buy a copy (or two smile ) from the store...we've made history people!

My story from the Bay Area.....Well, I ended up going to sleep at 4am because I was excited, lol. So I woke up at 7:30, pleading w/ my eyes to open up. I threw on a throwback Prince shirt, the one when he has his shirt off with the gun mic w/ the symbol before he added the curly part. So I got to target and had a 15 minute wait. There were few people in line but I didnt know if they were there for the same reason. One guy saw my shirt and said "Well your here for the right reason". When they opened the door I was doing some Oprah power walkin' and I was the 1st one to get the album. Only me and the guy who saw my shirt was there for the cd though, lol.

Got to the Verona, WI Super Target around 9. (Had to drive through snow.) Got the CD first...then fabric softener and toothpaste. Dented the digipak trying to get it open. redface

Hit a drive-thru on the way home for a latte and a scone.

Listened to the Lotusflow3r while I picked out my outfit for Berlin tonight.

I'm sure you all realize by now that no one's really checking for Prince's new music, right? Y'all got up all early to be the first one in "line" when you were probably the ONLY one in "line" to buy it. LOL!

Who got up early? I got up at my normal time, did a couple loads of laundry, then headed to Target when I was ready for a latte. And I got other stuff I needed for my trip (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc). shrug

I mean...it's not like I haven't had the music since Tuesday.

Okay, so I took my time getting there, (9:55am) and headed straight for the Lotus display to pick up 2 cds, (one for Kevin at work). I was feeling a bit excited but totally at peace for not having endured the stress of joining the website. lol The salesperson gave me the stank-eye because I asked for one of the displays when the promo was over. eek Oh well, the indie wrecka-stows always let me have 'em so I didn't see the harm in asking.

For anybody still wondering why the big box retailers love this sort of deal, I defy you to walk out of one of these stores with just the cds. I also picked up a floor lamp, some cute beaded sandals, and a bottle of drano plus some socks and skivvies for my son,

Then I threw everything in the back of the car, ripped open the package and put Lotusflower in the player. Ahhhh...heaven on earth! Both of the Prince cds are excellent. Even the Bria joint was better than expected although Prince still needs his ears slapped clean off the side of his head for daring to compare her to the queen that is Sade!

Anyhoo, I got home and listened again with my 21yr old son, (wearing his new socks), while I made him put the new lamp together, (since he's the one who broke the first lamp), neutral He likes Lotus a lot, but he loves Mpls much better, especially Chocolate Box...Elixir, not so much. lol

Good times!
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

OMG! I thought I would be the only lunatic wearing my Prince t-shirt and begging the salespeople for the display...are we nuts or what? lol

I have to agree with you on that. She's NOBODIES Sade at all but I like Elixir, it's better than what I thought it would be. Prince did the damn thing with these CD's! woot!
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
