My ballot:

Bracket #1:
Mountains--Total light v. dark contrast. Just heard Papa on Emancipation Radio today and realized I'd forgotten about that noisy-ass vamp at the end. That so needed to be cut.

Purple Rain--Hmmm...guitar or voice? This time, I gotta go guitar.

Pop Life--As good as Around the World in a Day was as an album, so many of the songs were either pop-accessible or had a message. This was the only one, I thought, that had both.

Illusion, Coma, Pimp and Circumstance--I'll still pick tongue-in-cheek wordplay over obtuse religious imagery every time.

Bracket #2:
Anotherloverholenyohead--Kind of a coin flip.

The Cross--Another close one, and despite not having any affection for really religious material, songs like "The Cross" and "One of Us" really work coming from Prince, just due to the power and soul that he can put into it with his voice.

If I Was Your Girlfriend--Stands up to repeated listens a little better than Black Sweat.

Controversy--Again, showed that the man had something to say, and wasn't just some lewd sex pervert.

Bracket #3:
D.M.S.R.--Always and forever one of my favorite Prince club-bangers.

Head--Showed that he could be a lewd sex pervert, and not just a keening romantic sap. razz

When You Were Mine--Like I said in Round 1, just way happier-sounding than any breakup song really has a right to be.

Dirty Mind--What can I say? The whole album brought it hard.

Bracket #4:
My Name is Prince--Still gotta go with the first one that turned me on.

Let's Work--The Dance, I think, might be his best ballad since The Gold Experience, but Let's Work just has an irresistible groove.

When Doves Cry--Overplayed, yes, but it's still played for a very good reason.

Raspberry Beret--Clash of the titans in the next round, I think. But of what's left, I can't find any that I'd vote over Beret. MAYBE The Cross, but depends on the day.
