My mom was the one that got me into his music. But when she got remarried to a raceist, iit changed. I was not even allowed to have any black artists in the house. I had to show pucs before i could buy th albums

As much as I complain about the quality of Prince’s last 10 years of music I still recommended my parents to go and see Prince live at one of the O2 concerts in London a few years back.

My Dad has never really been a fan, and with both my parents being close to 70 years old and in the 1960’s having seen the Beatles and The Stones in concert I was curious to know what they would think.

They went on their own to the concert and loved it …. ‘Purple Rain’ I think was the highlight for them, (they called up my brother during to song and held up their cell phone ha-ha).

They are not on the edge of their seat now waiting for a new album by Prince, but the greatest hits cd gets played in the car occasionally .

My mum did and does like Prince (although she's mostly a classical music buff)

My dad was very conservative, and not into any kind of music really - he didn't like Prince at all.

Definitely no!. I came home 4rm school one day and found all my Prince posters in the trash. My mother said Prince was a devil worshiper and did not want him in her house.

Back then in the early eighties it was highly rumored that Prince worshiped the devil and if U played his music backwards it will confirm it...

How ironic now since Prince is known now to be very spiritual. Of course I retrieved the posters and ironed them out and put them back on my wall after I ran away...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Nope she did not like him as she was becoming an evangilist during the early-mid 80's. She felt he was a demon who was leading me to perversion and sacrifice of my god given masculinity LOL. Now she loves him, loves how he's matured, loves alot of his ballads ( that boy is old school, i loves me some prince) and the fact that he wears suits alot. I think over time as he aged and toned it down she was able to see his musicianship-something she can recognize. she really loves to hear him play guitar live now, when he rocked the hall of fame finale she was tickled to death.

I don't think my mother cared, but my father always called him names (most of them too explicit to say here).

What was funny is that my dad LOVES Johnny Mathis. I once told him that he couldn't talk about Prince wearing heels and makeup, Johnny Mathis was always ridiculed for his hair and actions. I went on to say that at least Prince has women on his arm and you never see one on Johnny's. He then left him alone. Now, I don't think he cares.

That was a good one. lol

My mom used to be a fan of his but then she stopped being a fan in the mid-late 80's but she brought me his albums at the same time as I was becoming more of a fan as a kid. My dad was never into him. He didn't think he was all that and still doesn't. My grandfather actually digs Prince. He really enjoyed the Super Bowl performance and he even has Purple Rain the movie in his Movie collection. He's got some good taste. lol
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't think my mother even knew who he was until the Super Bowl halftime. lol

I mean...she knew of him...and knew I enjoyed his music. But beyond that...nothing.

I'm sure my dad still couldn't pick him out of a line-up. lol
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I had to hide my Prince albums after the PMRC thing for fear my parents would throw them out. My dad probably still hates Prince, for as much as he's aware of him, but my mom has come to like a few of his songs. But I think my mom finds Prince the person kind of silly.

I brought my mom with me to see Prince 1985 purple rain tour. She loved it! wink
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I dont know if I should go as a young or old orger. I am probably around the mean age.

My dad liked Prince for a while. He was a fan of James Brown and jazz growing up, and he liked Prince's sound at first. He turned away from Prince when he changed his name to the symbol.
My mom is a moderate supporter.

I remember my father talking about P's musicianship when I was young. I think this was one of the reasons I decided to start listening to him (Prince, not my dad wink ).
