Is prince the best singer?

Do you guys really think prince is the best singer. I mean you really think he can sing? A lot of people think he can't sing (including me sorry) and I'm just curious as to whether you guys actually think he has a beautiful voice? I would love to be proven wrong

oddly, I think he has a beautiful voice, but don't consider him a great singer.

No he's not the best, but he doesn't need to be. He sings his own songs beautifully, thats all I know.

Prince can definitely sing, but what you probably notice is how bad he sounds. That's not necessarily his voice but the combination of pitch and instrument accompaniment. He just sounds bad now.

But he sounds really good in tunes like The Beautiful Ones and actually quite a bit of songs up until he over-produced himself.

I guess it's a matter of opinion. There are some singers that have good voices and then others that don't necessarily have good quality voices but sing well, You know what I mean? I think Prince is in the latter category.

Prince iz an amazinqq sinqer withh a qood ranqe..he uses different vocal styles n different sonqzz...he knowzz xacty wut type ov vocalzz complement the sonq...az a sinqer I du thizz myslf..naturally I have a soulful voice but I use different texturezz n tonezz n different sonqqz. Lyk if I were 2 sinq a contemporary sonqq...I wud sinq it wit less runz and more purity...n with aquieter n more settle tone thnhow I wud sinqq a an rnb sonq

totally underrated as a singer. his voice can't be considered good in the traditional sense but it is very versatile. prince cosntantly challenges himself in this area. his harmonies are at par with marvin's. just listen to the song "for you" and, god, that we all know is just the beginning.

I think he's a brilliant singer and I think Prince is very smart in the way he looks after his voice. His falsetto's are amazing, his controlled screaming i.e Beautiful Ones are jaw dropping but as he gets older, he knows what he can and can't do.

I love his voice. And I want to hear it forever.

Of course he is not the best singer.

It is all about what you prefer.

There are singers that are technically better, but there is not another singer that emotes the same passion as Prince does for me.

When he is on, you feel the pain, sorrow, happiness, cockiness etc in his vocals.

He knows how to put emotion into a song - listen to "So Blue" and you can hear it in his voice...snippets of "If I was Your Girlfriend" - there are so many to name (Darlin' Nikki). Last year when I saw him at the Indigo for the aftershow he sang "Gotta a Broken Heart Again" and him and Maceo were going back and forth and his voice was in harmony and in pitch with the sax - absolutely fantastic.....

remember him singing happy birthday to Cat - he just seems to know what fits best (One of Us is great because of the way he sings it and brings in the guitar to match his voice - sheer brilliance!)

He was an amazing singer on his first album and on purple rain. He has amazing range, but not a strong voice, but then again he was never pavrotti, but rather more exciting!

I.M.O., He is one of the best...singer/song writer/musicians on the planet!

Yes, Prince can sing and does have a beautiful voice, but it's not apparent on every record.

A lot of people can sing beautifully, and we all have our favorites.

Everyone has a unique voice fingerprint...I like the way that Prince's voice touches my spirit.

Prince is a GOOD singer at best.
He has his own spin which in turn, creates his own identity, which IMHO, is a lot better than trying to sound like someone else.

Considering he also plays all his own instruments too, you gotta give the man credit, he's better than some, but not all - but then again, who is.

That's like saying, I watched 5 random clips of Michael Jordan playing basketball and he wasnt all that great!
