I read this as he/she meant that the sight might open on the 31st,but that we should'nt expect for 3 albums to be released. Meaning that we won't get all 3 albums that Prince said he would be releasing. This is how I interpreted what Dj7 said.

I realize that he has the talent, and someone else may have a better knowledge of business. However, he seems to be a very intelligent man. I think he holds the amount of business sense that he needs, and even if he were more "business inclined" he would still continue to do things different than most other artist. No seriously...He was doing things right when he had the club. Although I cannot speak for everyone, I had a fabulous experience with the NPGMC, and hope he brings something similar back. Even if it is only for a few years. That is a few "hopeful" front row tickets to concerts.

the Dj7 comments are nothing more than common sense. The physical albums won't be released on the 31st. They really can't be released then. That simply doesn't allow for even a normal (for Prince) amount of hype preceding their release. A couple of articles at the beginning of the month aren't going to cut it. You need time for national press coverage, as Dj7 said the inserts to be created and printed, and just as important, in store advertising to be set up. For example, if it's walmart, there will be signs at the entrance/exit to the store for a week or two before the actual release telling people what day it's coming out.

These things aren't going to be even started in advance of an announcement of the release date and an announcement of who the retailer is or there would be leaks.

What I expect on the 31st is
- the web site to go live (I suspect the $77 price on the ticket on the site is the sign up fee)
- announcement of the release date of the album and who will be selling it
- announcement of plans for a tour
- streaming copies of the new albums as well as music and videos from his back catalog
- A store to order CDs, DVDs, etc, and perhaps digital downloads. If he does digital downloads, he hopefully learned his lesson from before and does something that is compatible with iPods.

I mean if you want to release three albums at a time, you need a band that has rehearsed properly to play gigs and do all the promotion (tv shows).

But isn't it what he did with TRC as well ? I don't remember clearly the way he worked things out bacj then. Didn't he release TRC throught the web first and later in stores ?

There's a huge recession and most of us were 'lifetime members' of NPGMC. IMHO, A few old videos and promises of priority purchase of tickets for to-be-scheduled concerts won't cut it.
