prince vs. curt cobain

you probably thought this is another guitar subject
but it's not

my question is why is curt cobain has bigger influence in the world of music then prince.
was curt realy a better song writter?
could curt go in music where prince can or could.
i cincerly doubt but whats your opinion???

Prince is an underated guitar hero whilst Cobain was a anti-guitar hero.

Have you actually heard some of Prince's protoges? They obviously were more influenced by Curt Cobain than Prince.

Every time I hear Mayte or Appolonia belting out tunes, I cant help but think of Cobains "Negative Creep"

I think this is a open and shut case. Kurt Cobain had an influence on a single genre of music that really was only around for a couple of years. Musicians across the board have been influenced by Prince.

to me prince is the best but i think for some stupid reason people hail nirvana on a much higher scale then prince's amazing opus

No comparison. 2 totally different artists from 2 totally different eras. 2 totally different planets.

But I will go out on a limb and say "I Like It There" has a grunge rock feel to it.

I don't see the point of the thread. They're from two different eras. Cobain came into play in the 90s and his influence is more about rock and alternative. Prince's era was all glam and glitter, pop, funk and dance. They're both big influences but to different genres of music.

For the record, Prince's influence has had more crossover appeal. Plenty of rockers, indie and jazz folk cite Prince as an influence. I don't think Madonna, Herbie Hancock or JT will be citing Cobain as a big influence anytime soon.

Tho I maintain the firm notion that Cobain was a hack
His version of Lake of Fire was pretty sweet, possibly better than anything Prince could do...
But of course it's a different type of music
