it's a rehearsal track from summer 1984. he's rehearsing an un-released the family track ("paul's my name, makin' love's my game"). i've always liked this jam, for all those solos and the little bit of lyrics, very much akin to sheila e's holly rock love. that beat is kickin', but it meanders for far too long in between the few interesting parts. the version i have is only 27 minutes confused

'kay, yeah, this is funky music dancing jig guitar. "feline, keep my body workin'" headbang. "line up a hundred, swear to god, i'll fuck 'em 'til they just can't see" falloff

There are versions of Prince and the Revolution rehearsing "Mutiny," "Desire," "Screams of Passion," "Feline," and an instrumental groove, "Bodyheat" These songs were intended for "The Family" album. St Paul did not want to sing the lyrics to "Feline" due to religious reasons, so Prince re-vamped the song into "Holly Rock" for Sheila E. The rehearsal of "Mutiny" and "desire" includes Eric Leeds playing with the Revolution (maybe for the first time?) -- These are from around July 1984... keep in mind this is BEFORE Purple Rain was released, and Prince was already going in a whole new direction adding Eric Leeds on sax. The rehearsal versions are all very long and jam-heavy... IMO if he released a "Prince and the Revolution" version of the album, it would have been even better than the finished product.
