2004 Rock & Roll Hall of fame (Prince, Harrison + others)

I jus looked at Prince's 'solo' performance and I jus started gently weepin along wit the guitar. I think the mood and feeling of the song got to me but when His Purple Majesty started makin his guitar weep I couldn't help it...the tears jus flowed. I've cried while listenin certain songs b4 but not to this type of music. I don't kno wat to make of it. Does anyone else feel sad when they hear this song or when Prince plays to it? Do y'all think this is bizarre? Frankly, I'm officially confused wit myself confused

That guitar solo is totally amazing, I love it when he falls back onto his security guy! It's like he just comes out of nowhere and blows everyone away... brilliant! razz

Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who screamed? Was it U...?

A magical moment. A few minutes of absolute grace and brillance.

Everytime Prince just lets it go and shows his musicianship, he is amazing. Every single time.

I watched this video a little while ago. Took me some time to find it. All I can say is: Prince is a master music genius.

Even the rest of the guitarists were surprised by that!

Throwin his guitar and walkin off-stage is a usual thing he does (and personally I think it's because he doesn't like to stand there doin nothing), but at the end of this particular performance he had an extra pep in his step as he walked off, like he knew he did major damage on that stage wit the guitar fro

This my favorite Prince performance of the last 10 years. It feels organic. The other guys had it cookin' and then Prince took it to the next level.

Prince is spectacular on that performance, and he knows it. He often end that way. He saying "There it is, there's nothing else to do". biggrin

I personally don't think it was wrong of you to cry at all (and I'm a guy eek) Prince--and especially his guitar work--does that to you sometimes: music so powerful and beautiful that it stirs your soul.

One such solo for me is in Purple Rain. When I was 12, I was preparing to take my own life, and through that solo I felt the power and glory of the Almighty and I just broke down and wept because I knew He loved me and had a plan for me. So I didn't go through with it... To this day, when I hear it, I weep because I remember that moment.

I can't believe I just admitted that so openly, since normally I'm not too overt with my spirtuality. I hope I don't get too many rolleyes from y'all, but I'm just being real. I actually felt close to God in that moment, closer than before or since.

I've seen the video, Prince comes from out of nowhere on the sidelines and with elegance, grace and superb precision knocks it out of the ballpark in his red hat.

Makes ya proud to be a fam.

No. I haven't because I feel that if it is not offered through Prince, I will be doing something disrespectful.

This is so sweet of u 2 share ur testimony. Stories like that are so heart-warming...I think we've all been in that place before...rock bottom with broken spirits...alienated.
There was a girl who wanted to take her own life and felt that same feeling through a picture of a garden that Thomas Kinkade had painted.
I've been there 2...I took heaven and I demanded Jesus help me...and he did...I will never be less than zero again. zero 2 me...is feeling depressed...what I had at one point was something all together lower...I'll never be less than zero again. cool

I never felt prouder of the man. The song is a great song and it was a nice reminder to non Prince fans that the man can shred!

It was touching for me b/c it was a tribute to my favorite Beatle, George Harrison and to see Prince's interpretion of the solo was surreal.

Best performance of the 2000's (live).

Hurrah i awake from yesterday
alive but the war is here to stay
so my love catherina and me
decide to take our last walk
through the noise to the sea
not to die but to be re-born
away from a life so battered and torn....
forever...

Absolutely. He seemed inspired and on fire. It was his turn to join the immortals and he nailed it. Look at the smile on George Harrison's son's face. That says it all.
