Strange World Of Prince #1: "The Prince Spaghetti ComerciaL"

Back in 1985 Boston's famous "Prince Pasta Company" dare to release a TV spot to promote their legendary "Prince Spaghetti" with a song that includes a electronic drums sound reminince of the "Take Me With You" intro while a voice over introduce "Prince in Concert" to a screaming live audience in front of a stage with purple smog and purple lights, at the end of the comercial we see the Spaghetti package box along with a hand wearing lace gloves and a ruffle shirt and we hear the voice again "Prince, the original".

A few moths after the comercial played nation wide Entertainment Tonight did a piece on it, were they reported that our Prince laugh after seen it and then he order it to take it down (totally diferent reaction on todays Prince world).The "Prince Pasta company" credited the idea to popular advertising creative director Stan Freberg, the comercial went out of the air as soon as the Prince Roger Nelson managment send the legal advice.

I don't know the whole story behind this, but i remember following the small controversy on TV. Here it is, the Prince spaghetti comercial:

I can see myself 98 years old and chatting on the org with cane and walker in hand plus going to tribute concerts cause that guy name Prince will be long gone and will have to sit next to the speakers just to hear the dam music because my hearing aid died

I've never heard of Prince pasta. Interesting.

Is it just me or does the pasta box look like a box of toothpaste or hemorrhoid cream? Not what I'd expect from a box of pasta.

Why does this youtube link matter to you? Prince doesn't have any ownership of anything in it. And even if he does get it taken down, who cares?

I think it was great that the guy have sense of humor, this was around the time that he got bad press for been so serious, anyway this company is not own on anyway by Prince management, so it's ok too post this vid.

14 seconds into the commercial, a white shirted dark haired figure can be seen jumping off the stage...it looks ALOT like Prince.

Call me when the Prince Tennis racket company...and Prince Pasta merge to do a commercial for vegetarians and hit meatballs off of the stage...I'll let ya know what to do then. cool

groovyiau	that was funny..... The Super Bowl add with him in it was good too.... If Prince did an infomercial what would it be.... ? and would ya buy it,,, Where there record commercials made when he was at WEA??? ?
