Covers of Prince songs.... which do you love/hate?

Fistly.. sorry for using the word hate.. such a strong word, but catchier than 'don't love so much'


OK.. I love 3 cover's and so many people are going to disagree with me on atleast one, probably 2

1. Cyndie Lauper "when you were mine"

2. Tom Jones "kiss" ( I don't care what any of you say.. I LURVE TJ, he's a dirty old man and I love him for it)

3. Sinead O'Conner "Nothing Compares 2 U"

Love: I feel for you by Chaka Khan. So much better than the original.

Hate: When doves cry sung bx Ginuwine. Everytime I hear this, I pass out and wake up in a strange building, covered in someone else's blood.

Yeah...that bad...

Cee-lo cover of Darling Nikki... sorry sang it in wrong key but the band was good.

I have yet to hear one I like. Most people think doing a lazy impression of an artist is the definition of a cover.

Hate Kiss by tom jones and hate the one cover by the lame new kid on the block guy.

I still love "Do Me, Baby" by Me'lissa Morgan...

Sorry... can't stand the sound of Sinead O'Connor's voice.

HATE Ginuwine's When Doves Cry and Jonathan Knight's I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man. And that last thing is not weird, but what was weird is that on the same album there are two Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis songs that sound BETTER than some Prince songs out of the same era.




The other one is Different Kind Of Party, which is is like a The Time song. Love it.

Mariah's "The Beautiful Ones" is by far the worst of the worst. Sure, she gets the tune across, but man oh man does that version ruin the spirit.

Can't say this is "the" favorite, but I have to say the version of "Kiss" on the Bob Belden record has always had an odd appeal.
