Legacy One of the copyright threads had a comment saying "Prince seems like he wants to erase his history" and it got me thinking. I think it's interesting to think of the difference between Prince as a "product" and Prince as a person. It's almost as if leaving behind a history of his music might water down the image of Prince the man vs. Prince the entertainer. Not saying this is at all what he thinks, but it was an idea that popped in my head. The music he makes are his creations and are probably pretty personal, even though they are released to the public. I don't agree with all the copyright stuff that's gone on, but I can see how someone would not want their memories/ideas to be changed or warped by someone else's performance of them after they are gone.

I believe that several perspectives of Prince will survive history...although, When, "The Rainbow Children," circulates within a younger generation...those perspectives will conclude...that a statement about erasing history...is only one view of a hypnotic unwind...or rewind to the missing link in the loop....After all...Time is an illusion that only gravity creates...We'll get there.... When you're heart has been through every angle, and down every weary road,
And a miracle is you're only option, Believe.~T

I thought this thread was going to talk about physical legacy meaning family. My husband and I were discussing how things/talents/skills/genes are passed on from one generation to the next. Like say three generations of police or doctors in one family not to mention actors and singers. I love the way Prince has fulfilled his dad's dream. I think his dad was initally offended by the cursing and overt sexuality, but I also think they reconciled after Prince calmed down. I don't think Prince is as concerned with the past racier music not being 'remembered' as he is with it not being his only legacy. It seems that he has moved on and would prefer everyone else does too, but he will acknowledge his cleaner music to no end. I also hope he has a kid one day to past on those talented skillful genes to as well as his music legacy.
