Prince and James Brown???

I heard he didn't go to JB's funeral. Anybody know why?[b]

Neither the R&B nor the Rock-n-Roll Code required that he attend the service, last time I checked.

Like a lot of us, Prince probably paid his respects from afar.

Besides, little as he is, he could have gotten hurt when all of JB's wives and ex-wives and alleged wives and children and ex-children and alleged children started dukin' it out and clawin' at each other's weaves over where to bury him and who was gettin' what jumpsuit to put on eBay.

The clips of The Godfather as part of the silent video montage before each 3121 set at the Rio seemed like a fitting homage.

Someone can't even die in peace...without people that never really loved you...showing up on a day you deserved respect....Prince made the right decision...Prince knew that James wasn't there anyway...just his body was.

I think James Brown's death made Prince more aware of his business dealings, and manage his money better.

I wouldn't be caught between that madhouse mess either.

Imagine sitting there with the STRAIGHTEST face knowing JB's heirs are exploiting him in that SAME ceremony.

Its a fucked up thing to witness,,,and knowing how Prince looked up to Mr.Brown, I don't think he could stand being there.

I don't think that Prince was obligated to go to JB's funeral, no more than any other artist who JB may have inspired.

JW's don't attend non-JW's funerals. Heck Prince didn't go to his parents funerals did he?

Prince doesn't do funerals, at all, ever.

Personal choice.....leave it at that.
