The Holy River Video...

The Holy River Video...

I adore the song...who wouldn't...and this is just one of those things....like "The Pink Panther," movie, that 4 some reason gets on my artistic nerve...

I don't want to offend all of the wonderful people that threw that slop together..but...what does Prince falling from the sky have to do, with diving off of a small rock have to do with Alice in wonderland strolling around some columns have to do with David Copperfield holding some holograms? What was that all about...

It looks like 4 different video concepts...pieced together off of the coffee break floor...I'm sorry. cool

I think it's a perfect example of the cheaply thrown together post-WB Prince videos. Definitely detracts from the music rather than enhancing it. Kinda like "Come On."

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

He played this live on -top of the pops- in the uk when it came out as a single and the live version was far better then the single, full of energy, more dancy and pumped up to the fullness.the single is tame and needs to be more wild...

I think the video is beautiful, as is the song, the pictures together with the words make a complete story of a person that has found redemption and washed himself clean and he's inviting others to do the same.

He also sag it on VH-1 Honors. I think his single selections (and cheap videos) were a little werid....It really took the hype away from Emancipation. Right back here in my arms and a few others I think would have done better....JMO

I can see the attempted success there...however...It's a mess. If you never see the video...the song stays as strong as it does when you watch the video...the video doesn't enhance the song any...It remains stable...so it was money down the drain.
